It's just plain wrong. I really don't want to hear their conversation while I'm in there, and do they think the person on the other end of the line will enjoy the sounds of flushing, etc.? Just plain wrong...
Thanx a bunch to all who came out to help get the course in shape last night. Your help is very much appreciated by lots of folks you don't even know!! Hope you plan to come to the next few weeks of work nights. We will be meeting/working starting around 5:30 or 6:00 and doing more of the same stuff that was accomplished last night.

Wow, just finished 48 grueling holes at Lafreniere Park. There are 2 more holes than the PDGA site says (24 total), but what a beautiful course (and huge) even in the late winter (I'd love to see it in the summer with all the leaves on the trees). I'd also like to see it with less than the 17 mph / 28 km/h sustained winds and 38 mph / 61 km/h gusts. Now, on to Sherando!

My problem being "older" and learning a new game is arm strength. I can sidearm flick ok and I attribute that to being a sidearm ball pitcher. Backhand has been a real challenge, and so the goal is practice, practice, practice. Anyway, I can't let my sons FWAP and "room 240" think they can out do their dad. And too I have grandson Zach and brother Frank also learning the game. This is quickly becoming a family affair as room 240's wife Caren also plays. This will make Christmas… Continue

Bill and I played 36 holes at Gower after work tonight. I was really bad tonight at +5, +3, +7, and +1. They have started putting forms in to pour tee boxes. The first 6 forms are in and they have started scraping off the 7th. I'm not sure who is in charge of putting the tee boxes, but they picked strange places for a couple of them. They will prove to be challenging. It appears that nothing has been done to resolve the mess at Timmons Park. That's too bad. Bill said that Boiling Springs is… Continue

March 2008: I just bought a new bag, though it's not specifically for Disc Golf. I usually buy travel luggage or fishing "tackle" bags as they seem to have plenty of pockets and most are pretty waterproof. I have been playing since 1979, and have had only two or three smaller bags which were made for disc golf. All my old disc bags end up being carriers for extra discs.
This new bag is a "Reliance" fishing tackle bag (from K-Mart $29), very lightweight, easily holds 15+ discs… Continue
So, this is a good month for Aces! I threw the Montiel Doubles today and got another Ace! Hole 4 Long 257 ft. sidearm flick, straight in. Which brought me to -14 for the round. Can't wait 'till the next one....

I really like the way the Chief turned out so I'll put it up again:
Today is Day 22. I had a little solid food yesterday, the parts of Kelsey's lunch she didn't eat: some baby carrots, two slices of bread, and a Davy Crocket bar. It seems as if the diverticulitis symptoms are all gone for now. There's still the 40 pounds, 50 pounds, we'll decide how… Continue
On Saturday afternoon I played on the best card I've ever played on. Bar none. It was more exciting than any round thus far in my short discing lifespan. It was filled with huge putts, huge saves, and all around incredibly exciting golf. The best part was the generally great attitude by all of the guys on the card. I played the second round of the March Madness C-Tier at the Brent Hambrick Memorial DGC in Columbus, Ohio with Aaron Trimmer, Jon Allen, and Ryan Bohardt. Ryan wasn't a part of the… Continue
Saturday we had two groups of 5 playing at the Rivery in Georgetown, Texas. The course is looking great right now. We had 8 for the meetup and I thought two guys who were playing were there to join us so I asked if they wanted to play. One was from California and he was very good at disc golf. The other guy was mostly a ball golfer but he had played disc gold once before (the Rivery on Friday).
One group was fast and they started at hole 3. They would pick up… Continue

Played 54 holes at Timber yesterday: the most I've set down in years. Ran into Miller; he wondered when I was going to buy that property down on Springwater Rd. Yeah Jerry you want to lend me a milllion bucks. Printed up the sponsorship letter for the Beaver State Fling that Teresa wrote. I'm not brimming with confidence about cold-calling Portland area businesses. Wondering if mailings are cost effective.
At our disc golf meetups, we often play doubles. This is to speed us up and because we have differences in the levels of skill of our players.
We do have a few challenges I haven't figured out:
What if two really good players end up on the same team when we flip? Sometimes we'll flip for teams and then invalidate the flips saying "We can't have you two together."
What if you have an odd number of players?
Team three ususally winds up beating… Continue

The other day we were watching Highlander and Kelsey was peeling vinyl off trophy discs. She had no where else to put the sticker bits so she was putting them on the back of her hand. She did a cool feather pattern which i don't know whether it shows well in the picture:
This morning I took Kelsey to a horsemanship instructor training camp near Columbus. The place would make for some… Continue

It doesn't feel like it's been a month since my last post. That obviously means I've been working WAY TOO MUCH!
PT is going well. I make it to the gym a few times a week, get some heat, ultrasound, massage, do a work out, get some ice/stim and so on ... not as much fun as playing golf, but it's better than watching TV every night (except for LOST which everyone knows is the best TV show ever).
I played a DG course today for the first time in 12 weeks. It was just our… Continue
I played in a dodge ball tournament yesterday for charity and unsportsman like conduct reared its ugly head just like I see in disc golf. I see a similarity between the two sports. You see, they started this yearly dodgeball tournament to raise money for the dixie derby girl roller team. The first year or two we had odd colorful teams, funny and fun matches with a hundred dollar first prize.
Last year some jocky unimaginative uptight losers started raining on our parade. What was once fun… Continue
