I weeded six Darth Vaders and six IOS 4 masks today at Kira's dojo. The dojo has a really nice waiting area for parents so the sensei is cool with parents bringing a book or whatever and hanging out. Kiralyn was testing tonight for her next belt. I saw a little of it. She'll get the belt, but she has to participate at Fight Night too.
Motivated by curiosity and boredom, I timed the weeding.… Continue

So in January I played an unsanctioned tournament at the Hambrick Memorial Course in Columbus, Ohio. I played in the Open Division and thanks to a ridiculous first round I tied for 1st with Geoff Bennett before losing in a three hole playoff. I'm going back to that same course, in all likelihood on March 15 to play the March Madness C-Tier. Due to the cost of the Open Division at this lil C-Tier ($57) I will be playing Advanced ($37). There's been a minor tiff on the Columbus boards about it.… Continue

So, my birthday is the 19th, SO everyone that can should come play doubles at Tuscawilla Park at 430 and celebrate afterwards by going to Mr. Dunderbak's in the mall.
aahh? sounds good.
see you there!

I've been playing Wilco a lot lately in Cedar Park just north of Austin. Well, it's in Williamson County anyway close to Cedar Park, maybe it's Round Rock.
I HATE finding litter all over the course--this means you Mississippi Mud drinker! You have to leave your bottles all over! OK, there should be garbage cans all over instead of just at hole 1 and hole 9 but your $1 green fee doesn't give you the right to throw your cans and bottles all over the course.
It took us close… Continue

OK, so I went to Jack Brooks and sucked it up! That's in the past.
Tracy said Victoria was the place to go! Tracy tells me Friday that she isn't feeling so well, and all the sudden I'm not either. We couldn't make work and illness was looking to take the best of our weekend, but we gathered ourselves and made the 2 hr trek to Victoria TX. I was serious about this tournament. I knew I wasn't playing Texas States and this was probably my biggest tourney of the year. Jay and Des were… Continue

Today my Innova Deluxe bag came in the mail. At first sight, I am thrilled with the new purchase. Its spacious, and feels good on my shoulder.
More importantly, I have added 3 new discs to the arsenal.
a 173 Discraft elite X XL
a 173 Ching supreme Velocity
and most importantly.
my new weapon of choice.
a 175 Discraft FLX limited edition Drone.
I'm glad to see my bag is slowly expanding from discs other than Innova.

When I registered on this site, they asked me how many discs I own. I dunno, I thought. 100? Sounded good enough to me.
Today, being sick and working from home, I naturally decided I should count my discs. Well, I did. It turns out I have 100. Exactly.
I don't know why, but I feel so much better.

I finally found Bill today and we played Easley with Gary Stettler. The weather was pretty nice, but it was really windy. I was +14 for a 68. I played well at times and was off other times. I really should have played have played around 60. I really need to work on my side arm and get it more consistent. I had a first class roll off on #5 today. I had buried myself in the woods and my only throw was high throw a small window. I threw a thumber that went through the window, turned over, and… Continue

I've played the Memorial in past years as an amateur, and I've been pretty envious of the longer more technical layouts the pros have played. (Think narrow fairways with OB, more water to clear, two holes combined into one long hole, etc.) I'm excited and a little bit intimidated by the courses. Last year on hole 1 at the Fountain, I didn't put enough on my first shot to clear the water from the short (am) tee. The pro tee is set back another 70 feet! I think what this means is I've really to… Continue

The CFR Destroyers allegedly were stamped and shipped today except they were out of the lighter weight ones. Those will ship in a month. The yellow 168 Coyotes will arrive with the first shipment.
The sticker lady reports that the Stevie Ray Vaughan stickers and the Darth Vader stickers are ready to be picked up. I'll swing by there in an hour and maybe weed those tonight.
I'm looking forward to doing the Michigan artwork. Maybe the sticker lady already has it too. I need… Continue

I'll be taking a trip up the coast at the faults of May!
There'll be stops in San Fran, Crater Lake, Eugene, Seattle and all the little biddies along the way.
Anyone down for disc golf, or have any local events scheduled in the area between May 20th and June3rd, give me the heads up!
It will be my first trip to the north; I have a feeling I'll never want to leave!
Hustle those baskets!

Today was a beautiful day, weather-wise. With all the rain we have had lately, it was nice to wake up to sunshine. Allen and I went to Emerald Isle because the first EI Bagtag Challenge was taking place. Since I am brand new to the game, I did not expect in any way to compete or challenge. Maybe someday. Hopefully someday sooner than when I think it really will happen.
I tell you, I just don't know how to make the dang disc fly very far. Forward. Seems like when I forget to let go,… Continue

I suppose I can't complain about cash, but what a horrible pair of rounds today. I'm honestly pretty shocked that I came away from today's unsanctioned March Meltdown with last cash. I finished behind, in order: Mark Ellis, Mike Raley, Brooke Plantz, and Trevor Thorpe. During the first round I had a stretch where I went 5-5-4-4 (to add insult to injury my worn old jeans tore in the crotch on the fourth hole of that string, I had to stop and laugh at myself when it happened, I think that… Continue

Tourney 54 occured yesterday, featuring 3 courses and all played in one day, in 8 inches of snow (at least). Started the day leaving my house at 4am to get to the course and have time to warm up, downpours and tons of snow caused an extra hour of driving time, but I wasnt late to the first round. Didn't have time to warm up, but was able to throw a couple shots before going out to our holes. I didn't get to putt. Started off the day with a bogey after a birdie drive, then missed a 20' for… Continue

Friday I talked to someone about dying their disc golf related corporate logo on some discs. They have to get their logo done first. I really tried to convince them that colormax would be cooler, but they think dye would be cooler. I also tried to steer them to Josh Widye Hamm, but they had already talked to Josh and some other dye guys.
I also talked to Erich at Discraft on Friday. I'm ordering some stock Z discs to complete the trophy work and I'll be getting the… Continue

What a better way to start my blog here than by giving a bit of my history. I'll start with the very basic and move into where I am today. So this means if you want the juicy tales of marred rounds skip ahead a little bit.
I was born in Tucson Arizona in 1976. My mother had just left her husband (my father) after a long drawn out separation. My mother met who I call "Dad" the same year and he adopted myself and my two older brothers. A year and a half later my younger brother was… Continue
