Anna page park in Rockford Il

Went to anna page today, I did pretty good on the west side and I really had alot of fun throwing. The course has some nice tree's and it has a very long hole, 600 plus shot. we went to the east side, I did pretty good, but I did'nt care for it.

Working from "the hit" backwards.

Hit a new personal best distance today! I think I found what “clicked” a few weeks ago. I started from the hit backward today and slowly added the rest of the drive technique.

I used only my distance drivers in sets of 3.

3 drives working with backswing only

3 drives using one step and the backswing

3 drives using the full run up.

With this method it was easier for me to see where the errors were being introduced and allowed me to back up and correct them… Continue

Do you believe?

I got a chance to play a friends private course today. Drake Springs, located in the beautiful Paint Rock Valley. It is an 11 hole course with elevation, water, trees...it has it all. I took pictures of each hole for reference and was quite suprised to find something interesting on my pic of #6. Legend has it Old Man Clay (original owner of the property...168 years ago) still roams the grounds. Look @ the pic, you decide...what is it? Freakin' awesome!…

Here are some of my thoughts on...... you'll figure it out.

The Future and all that other stuff

At this point in time I have made the decision to discontinue operation of The North Texas Series. I will continue to run some of the events that I have run in the past, but the number will be down significantly from years past.

I will no longer be working in Disc Golf as a means of support effective immediately. I will be doing some stage work again, as well as exploring other business opportunities. I have put myself second for far too… Continue

Great Game, Late Tree Trouble

Played a full round at Kensington today. Got there about 10:30am, Did well practicing putting around I felt pretty confident to move along to the course. Before I did that I wanted to feel what drivers were working well today. My most recent purchase of a Discraft Surge flew great for me last night, but conditions weren't as windy as last night and It didn't want to seem to cooperate with me. Finished -1 par for the front 9 and broke even on the extras with a heart breaking in and out birdie… Continue

Friday Afternoon at Indian Hills

I just got back from playing Indian Hills. I love going there when I really want a challenge, as it is easily the most difficult course in my area. Good mix of longer, open holes and EXTREMELY tight, wooded holes. I wasn't terribly mad with my 60 today, but I (always) wish my putting was better--more consistent. I guess the highlights were: 1) hitting the chains dead center and bouncing out for a birdie 2 on hole 3 with an approximately 100-foot anhyzer, and 2) my monster hyzer on hole 6, and… Continue

one almost put me there but many kept me out

This is just a funny story I like to share.

Monday the 2nd of March I was throwing my putter around neighborhood waiting for my ride to league.

A little practice never hurts.

Grip lock took control and my putter landed on the roof of some old women. I did the right thing and knocked on the door. She answered and gave me permission to get on her roof but not get in her backyard.

My first thought was how can fly up there for my retrieval. I thanked her for her help and… Continue

Summer Of 1979

My story begins in 1979 when my band and I followed our manager TiT to California and a place called Santa Rosa. We where a rock band called Presence and we hit the road to make it as the next Led Zeppelin. Well when we got to Santa Rosa our drunk drummer left us for a women back in Idaho. But through the kindness of TiTs cousin James Sutherland we found a home for 10 months and began the process of finding another drummer and playing Frisbee golf at Sonoma State. Jim showed me… Continue

La Mirada

La Mirada was the last stop on our disc golf/wine tour. We played the Lakeside course first and then moved to the back 18. The Lakeside course was very interesting. Lots of elevation changes, and the holes that shoot along the top of the ridge can drive a person insane. If you get any roll on this hole it will be a bad one. It will take off and roll at least 150' feet down a steep slope towards the lake with no backdrop to stop it from getting… Continue

Oak Grove

Oak Grove was my favorite course of the 5 we played over the weekend. It was supposedly the first permenant basket course which is cool. Like Evergreen, it is a course that requires many different kind of shots. The interesting thing about Oak Grove was the random baskets and tees throughout the course. There were at least 3 entire holes that were not on the course map but fit in perfectly with the way the course winds around and through the… Continue

Evergreen Open Space

This was actually my wife's favorite course of the entire trip. I think she says that just because it was the only course where she made a birdie! I really enjoyed this course also though. It was a lot of fun because it requires so many different kind of shots. I can't recall precisely, but I'm pretty sure that I threw every disc in my bag on this course. We met up with a cool local named Dave (pictured below with my wife) who showed us the… Continue

El Dorado

Eldo was the second stop on our disc golf/wine tour. I think I shot my best score on the entire trip here although by the end of the round I was climbing trees to get my discs out. Fatigue became a factor because of the long drive and playing Huntington Beach in the morning. This course was fun to play but can become a little tedious. Most of the shots have to be shaped around trees which makes it fun and interesting. My wife had a hard time… Continue

Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach was the first stop on my disc golf/wine tour of southern California. I really enjoyed this course. My wife and I got there about 7:30 in the morning to an empty course (something you rarely see in San Diego at any time of day). After putting around for a bit we ran into a local who was able to show us where to start. This course is pretty straight forward but there are some holes out there that can ruin a good score. I really… Continue

It is often good to play.

I am taking a break from doing taxes. I would be playing disc golf, but I already used that excuse earlier. So, now I am just blogging. I know it cannot be emphasized enough, because people are kind enough to point these things out to me, and after 2 1/2 years I am getting some of it. So, here goes: 1) if the only way you can win is working someone, then so be it. If you were bullied when you were a kid, and then into high school, and your now 40 or 50 and you are not over it, get over it. 2)… Continue

Back to Greer

What a change in weather! Last weekend we had 4.5" of rain ending in 4" of snow Sunday night. It was cold Monday ( for South Carolina) through Wednesday, but today it was pushing 80 degrees. I met Bill and Carla at 10 this morning to play in Greer. Bill and Carla have done a ton of work on the course there. I have helped a time or two, but those two are out there nearly every day working on this and that. They've put two walk bridges across the creeks, built three sets of steps, and cleared out… Continue
