Stockton CVS, part of the Central Valley Series of tournaments which are unsanctioned, single day tournaments that are still reasonably competitive.
I missed cashing by one spot, but played the 2nd round with Roger Cansler, Jim Oates and Kevin Couch. It's nice to play in a group of this caliber.
I probably played Stockton too conservatively, but I went OB once in the first round and it kind of threw me. I ended up shooting -7 the first round, and -9 the second. 21 holes,… Continue

Yukio Mishima wrote a beautiful book called Spring Snow. I read it long ago. It was a story of unrequited love. The book came to mind over the past month as I looked longingly at my disc golf bag. It had been a few weeks since I had ventured out into the tundra with my bag. I recalled days spent with that bag on my back walking through verdant fields and throwing brightly colored circles into the sky. Of course, the second book in that trilogy… Continue

Hanging out with the Mad Professor on Sunday night - Priceless.
Yeah small crowd for the Dub Show at 19 Broadway in Fairfax on Sunday night. Mad Professor was on target with an all dub show, no singers, just one dj youth and the Professor with his dub table blasting out the dubs. Sug nasty went… Continue

I wrote this as a response to a sandbagging thread but it could be its own blog post with a little work. Jonah Goldberg does this all the time, turning blog responses into LATimes columns!
I run tournaments and play a lot of tournaments in a broad area across the midwest. I see basically zero sandbagging. What I see a lot of is Rec players playing Advanced, or Am 4s playing Intermediate, and then complaining about "sandbagging." We need a derogatory term for that. I propose… Continue

Browsing the internet this morning, I stumbled upon a British site with some photos from various tournaments around 1998-2003. Sure enough, among these were photos from my first international tournament - the Belgian Open in Parc d'Amée, Namur 1998 - that year's first tier on the Eurotour South. Here's a couple of the photos that I found:
The finalists from that years tournament. From left to right its Marco Lehousse from Belgium (TD); Kurt Karlson from Sweden; Derek… Continue

I finally achieved one of my goals in disc golf...I shot even par!!! Hooray for me. :) I played @ Brahan Springs in Huntsville, AL. A little windy, a little rain, not as many trees jumped into my frisbee's path. A good day.

The various member schools of the Upper Midwest Collegiate Disc Golf Association will be participating in the third annual Strange Brew Huck up at Highbridge Hills the weekend of April 26-27.
Last year we had 65 people head up for two nights of frivolity and all the disc one can handle. Six half barrels from South Shore Brewery kept us lubed.
This year should be as big or bigger. Friday night will be the return of the Strange Brew Stew, where you bring a canned good and we… Continue

It is this Saturday, April 5! See the previous post for details. Registration is 8-9. BYO partner doubles. Entry fee is $35, but there are a lot of opportunities to spend more than that.
I've been dying up some specials for the players who play this tournament, including a limited number of First Run Darkside Forces. These discs will have my custom Vader dyed on the dark side of the disc! I'm also doing some new Yodas and some Red Wings. The dyed specials will be cash-only until… Continue

The season is now in full swing, we have played 3 tournaments thus far this year. Including a 7th Place at the Gentleman's Club Challenge in Las Vagas, a 12th Place finish at The Memorial National Tour Event in Phoenix, AZ and a 2nd Place at the Aloha Sushi Classic in Walla Walla, Washington. I shot some amazing rounds, including a hot round to start the year off in Vegas and my career best round of 1088 the last round in Phoenix. I am just looking for more consistency during my rounds to put… Continue

So, I finally decided to do some personalising on this little corner of mine. Changed the theme, added some pics and got a decent header.
The header photo is modified from an awesome pic of Jesper Lundmark (?) teeing off shot by Martin Frederiksen during the European Championship 2007. Besides being a top European Masters player, Martin has shot some great photos from tournaments around Europe.
Check them out… Continue

Ok, not "official" since no one was with me, but Tonight I just HAD to stop & throw anything that was in my bag. Picked a beat up pro starfire & a Roc out of my Trunk. Thought I'd practice my short game, and threw a worm burner into the ground w/ my Roc (prefer the Buzz). Then lined up the same shot except snapped it harder, and fighing a cross wind left to right, it just chucked out, up, hyzer, and CHING! It was Solid, too - couldn't believe… Continue

Got my first "ace" on Monday, March 24, 2008 @ holy 4 pad to hole 8 basket in Norwalk, IA. Go figure - MY first "ace" just had to be a Polish one! LOL
Oh well, it was a cool shot. STRONG cross wind left to right turned my Champ Wraith into a mean roller... Disc rolled 220', jumped 10' across the creek, and upon landingon the other side jumped up in the chains of the #8 basket! LOL
