I'm not at all surprised that with the arrival of much nicer weather (especially throughout the midwest) that DGRUS isn't quite as busy lately. Most assuredly, everyone's out chucking plastic. I know this because I too have been taking substancial breaks from this site. Really, if that wasn't proof enough, you needed only to have been at Willow Run DGC last night. Un-friggin'-beleivable. And no, I don't mean that in a positive sense. There were so many people there. I mean tons (mostly casuals,… Continue

The 2009 Bowling Green experience was great. There were a lot of young faces that I had seen before and some old faces too. The BG team seemed to have it together much better this year. There has been a great deal of hard work and planning going into this event. It was very nice to see the scores posted so quickly. I was in the C group of Intermediates and they did a wonderful job of getting us started on time. There was a hitch at Basil Griffin, there must have been a two inch rainfall on… Continue

My 11-year old niece and I are friends on Facebook. I found myself turning a brief reply, to her into a fast-forward travelog from our trip last winter, into something longer. So I thought I'd share it, since the longer version may never be done.
Hi, Kailee, we haven't been in Ohio much recently.
The Amazon was wonderful. It was a great vacation.
We lived on a boat, and every day we went to the shore and had adventures in rivers, villages, or the jungle. The… Continue

This morning's round was chilly but bright and clear, with a lot of dew on the ground. An average round, til I got to hole 10 and heard the distinctive sound of a woodpecker. I was able to locate him and discovered he was a pileated woodpecker-the first one I've ever seen! And another great start to a beautiful day!

My last blog was a rant about the terrible round I threw last Tuesday (If you read it, you know how terrible it was). Anyway, I don't know what happened between last Tuesday and today, but I tossed the best round I've ever thrown... Ever.
I was at my home course in Wisconsin Rapids (Willow Run) with my cousin and discfellow Josh at around 9:00 a.m., and after 15 minutes of putting practice, we were off. Pars and birdies were where it was at today. My drives were all going where they… Continue

I've got bad news for you, the course at Good News church has been closed. Yes that's right, CLOSED. Due to vandals who stole the basket for hole #5, they decided to shut it down as they cannot afford to purchase new equipment. Of course this is how it always goes, one person has to ruin it for the rest of us. Well my thought is we need to either get together and save this course or we need to get the city or county to open another course for us. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Storms rolled through Arkansas last night, bringing rain, hail, and tornados. The course in Russellville survived just fine, but the wind was blowing like crazy this morning! But, like they say-shut up and throw!

For the next four days, I have the unfortunate displeasure of working second shift. Oh well, there's still time for disc golf right? So, with this in mind, I headed out my door at 8:30 this morning to catch an early round before I ran some errands and prepared myself for work. Maybe I should have stayed home...
I spent the entire morning nailing tree after god-damned tree, with a fair amount of those on the first hole alone. +4 when I finally hit the chains on hole #1. I was… Continue

So I finally had a tourney with every round being above the 900 mark. I didn't feel like any round was really a hot round, but just okay, no major blow ups. Low and behold, all of them ended up rated fairly well for me. My highest rated round to date was the first round of the tourney and didn't feel like I tore it up. Maybe one day the luke warm will turn into a hot round, but I am very happy to be moving up to Intermediate for the forseable future. I wonder if I can write off donating to the… Continue

What a wonderful weekend! The weather was windy, but the company and the courses were awesome! Thanks to all the LSDiscs guys and their families for two rounds of tough disc golf. And a special thanks to Neil for putting me up and putting up with me!

I finally won my division at this tournament with a respectable -1 and -2 for my rounds. I was quite happy with my play, and thrilled to finally win this tourney.
Then at the awards I was shocked to find out I had won the overall title as well! That's my first ever and I was glad to win it at such a tough venue.
The competition was fierce and the course took it's toll on the players.…

After some frantic activity last week, the new Quarry Park website went live late on Friday. The site incorporates the web pages and registration for the 31st British Open to be held on 11-12th July, 2009. It's part of the European Tour and we expect at least 10 countries to be represented. Should be great, all PDGA members welcome to come and play one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments around.
