Played in northern Jersey today. Rained a lot. Even the air in NYC is getting to me now.

Liberty Corner, NJ- Harry Dunham:This is a nice city park course, extremely open though. Has dual ashpahlt tees and good signs. Nothing really challenging even from longs, but has length. It has one real nice hole that is more like you'd see on a tourney level course. Nothing rough, well maintained. Not worth stopping by for because of it's easiness and openness, but a good one to have for… Continue

I dunno, might not be playing. Not for 215$ not for 20$ mini not for pure donation. Not for k-zoo course in hot wet august heat and slow play looking for discs in thorn bushes all day...

It'd cost easily 500$ to play in terms of travel to it and it makes my other schedule hard to stick to. I want to play every one, but it's hard to look forward to this one. I don't think I will be playing well enough by then to cash, but there's no way to know.

Not gonna register right away..see what… Continue

Me and Nic went to Warwick first today. Getting out of the city took most of the morning.

Played Campgaw again for the last (3rd) round today.

Warwick, NY- Warwick:

A really great and insanely long course (blue to blue). 4 different setups to choose from. The last few holes are like 700, 800..

Some holes/basket placements are some of the best I've seen, maybe even 1 or 2 of the basket placements make my top 10 favorites of all time. 1 was on a rock cliff, above… Continue

The Tale of the Wood Nymph

One can see some pretty interesting things out on the disc golf course... in my neck of the woods it's usually things like women's underwear (hung proudly on display in some sapling); destroyed discs (I even found a chunk of one that looked like it had been through a fire), not to mention other peoples' lost discs; a set of keys; plastic pill boxes; the occasional activity of local birds of prey; and I'd bet you folks could add aplenty to this list. But the most surreal thing happened to my… Continue

Wazeecha on Wednesdays (AKA the funnest leagues in the land)

On Wednesday nights in Wisconsin Rapids, Nacho runs a random draw doubles league at Wazeecha (Willow Run). $1 goes to the course, and the rest is paid out to the winners. Most weeks there are 30 or so players.

I don't know what it is, but these are the funnest leagues I have played in, week in and week out.

This past week a local bar sponsored us, giving us some free pizzas and beer tokens. About 15 of us hit the place up for four hours of revelry. Here's hoping that can… Continue

DNF aka I quit, waaaah

–noun; a person who quits or gives up easily, esp. in the face of some difficulty, danger, etc.

Just to make this clear.

(this has nothing to do with "real" injuries or health concers.)

Unfortunately we have issues in our Club with certain members Quitting in the face of pressure, or if they are not in contention. These players know who they are and so does everyone else. It is also obvious that these players are habitual Quitters and have now made a… Continue

New York (City) is a nightmare

I can't believe anyone lives here, or wants to come here..whatever floats your boat.

Yorktown Heights, NY- FDR State Park:

Nice variety of shots, and of terrain. Mix of rubber and mostly dirt, some are rutted. Good signs and scorecards with maps. It begins in tight woods and ends in a semi-open area of grass and pine tree rows, with tons of ivy. Watch for kids smoking in the back holes, hiding behind trees asking if they can throw your frisbees. It is very technical for… Continue

Gower Park - Sore Back

Bill and I got together for our normal Tuesday/Thursday rounds. We put in 36 holes at Gower. I was +1, +3, +1, and -1. I really struggled with the release angle on my sidearm last night. Also my lower back is really bothering me and I can't turn to throw backhanded. I had an appointment with Paula for a massage, but she called and said that she wouldn't be at the shop the rest of the week. I need to start throwing a thumber again, but there aren't many thumber throws at Gower.

Fountain hills kills

Played the Fountain today, kinda on a whim since I was only 10 or so miles away. I threw pretty well but still managed to lose 4 discs to the evil lake that feeds the fountain. I had no retrieval device with me which made playing there very frustrating. I tried to play safe, but it was windy today and the visibility in the water was zero. two of the discs I lost landed 30 + feet from the water but the wind and the sloped ground fed my discs to their watery demise. The water is scary green right… Continue

Nailed my first Ace ever up in Ludington last weekend en route to an Am3 1st place finish. The Ace came on Beauty hole F 175' blind forehand with one of my newly accquired CFR Gators. Just a few holes after canning a 100ft bird with the very same Gator. Finished 1 down after the 48 hole event first under par tourney. I also hit the 50/50 CTP & qualified for MI States.

Ace, 4.50$ gas

Yeah it's 4.50$ and people still drive around in SUV's gunning the engine. The line outside the station with 4.15$ gas was blocking traffic down the street. I aced #2 at Fairfield U, it was blind and there was construction going on, I didn't know until I walked up the hill and was shocked to see it in the basket.

Southington, CT- Panthorn:Very nice and relatively long thickly wooded holes. Great smoothed out rubber pads and good signage. 7 holes of 9 are basically straight,… Continue

From Alphadictionary.com

the branch of physics concerned with the motion of bodies in a frame of reference

the technical aspects of doing something; "a mechanism of social control"; "mechanisms of communication"; "the mechanics of prose style"

So for those that are not in the know, weekly there is a random draw doubles tournament in Hillsboro every Tuesday. I play this tournament as often as possible and really love taking this weekly opportunity to… Continue

Two Solid Weekends

So far May has been a fantastic month for me. Or at least it has come out solid after a somewhat slow start. Played mediocre to poor golf at Loco at the Mills, then played badly at the Parklane Drive Open. But after Parklane I won the Pro/Adv Putting Contest. Followed up that by hitting up Thrills at the Mills and winning Advanced with a 1022/985 split and a win in a playoff. But the most bizarre thing of the month has to be this past weekend...

Went to Norwalk, Ohio with Chris Hoyle… Continue

Gower Park - Talked to Delgado

Bill and I got together again and went around Gower 4 times. I was +2,-2,+1, and +1 to end up at +2 for 36 holes. As we approach summer the poison ivy is getting stronger and stronger over there. You sure don't want to get into the woods along #5 or over throw the 5th basket. There is also a lot of it on the 7th fairway and in the woods along the 7th. Dave Delgado (an assistant baseball coach at Furman) was waling laps while we were playing. I talked to him for a couple of minutes. There were… Continue

Rained out

Big thunderstorm dropped buckets of ran after I checked into my hotel, with possible hail so I am done for the day after just 2 courses.

Tolland, CT- Cross Farms:Very nice and well kept in some flat woods. Has good shot balance and is well designed. Several par 4's. Almost all woods, no big shots to air out. Great gravel pads and great signs. Errant shots are not overly punished, you can usually get up and down for 3 still with a great upshot. Nothing nasty or too rough. Great… Continue

14 Months to break PAR!!!

I started playing Disc Golf in March of 2007. I quickly became an addict. I've considered my growth in the game to be somewhat rapid. I've been very fortunate to play with and also somewhat get coached by some amazing talent.

Breaking par or even just GETTING par had seemed out of reach. Well, persistance pays off!!! This year I have Par'd 2 seperate courses and set personal bests at 3 different courses in a matter of 2 months. In early spring I finally got Par for the course at… Continue

One and Done's

so, apparently I excel in these particular events... Granted, I have only participated in two such events. However, both times I found myself playing better than I ever had before at this particular course.

Both times I have participated in a One-And-Done they were held on Memorial Day at White Clay Creek State Park in Delaware.

Last year I amazed myself with shooting a 59. I had only been playing since March of 2007. I actually won the Amateur Division for this event.… Continue
