I finally make it back to Timmons to play. I only wanted to play nine and there was a slow group of young lovers on #1 so I went to the back nine. It has been a long time since I played Timmons and I am throwing much longer than I was before. I ended up +1 for the nine holes, but that was after opening with 3 straight bogeys. I followed them with two birdies and parred my way out. I made a great putt to save par on #16. It was about 35 feet that had to ess right then left around a pair of… Continue

There are lots of throwing styles out there, but take a look at this guy: http://frisbee.net/index.php?showimage=145. Who can beat the Swedish Mr. Elastic?

Played the longs at around 5:30 on May 4th. There wasn't too may cars there, but there were definitely people throwing. I wander to the first hole, and two guys jet to the short pads in front of me. I ask to join up and get a hesitant, luke-warm response (whatever man). So the first player hooks a forehand over the fence - great. They wave me through. As I'm passing, they weigh their decision on how to retrieve the disc. After reading the blatantly simple instructions on the map (DON'T CLIMB… Continue

This Saturday Riley Ackerman and myself played in the state doubles. We played very well and placed 3rd in Adv. I thought this to be quite the accomplishment with my 17yo partner. The weather was typical for a ND spring morning. The winds where playing 20 to 40 mph out of the NW. 930 tee off at sunset park a brutal park when you get no sleep. It is full of very steep hills and 24 baskets. Check it out sometime in Mandan, ND. I think its 8500ft. After lunch and the first round we all met back at… Continue

Played both courses today in some beautiful weather. The new course (temp as of May 1st) was sick. Stunning scenery, challenging, windy, and somewhat fair (1-3 are really hard right now...) I left early after the second round, thinking that I didn't cash, but apparently I might have. It would be quite a waste to walk away from a states berth....I will shoot myself in the foot....Bigups Local 101 and Romine ++++

In the style of Christopher Guest, who brought you "Best in Show," "Spinal Tap," and more. "Frolf the movie" is a mocumentary that explores the lives of competing players the week prior to a disc golf tournament. Every character in this movie represents people that I have come across in the 15 years of playing ( 7 years competing.) There are beginners, pros, amateurs, frat boys, hippies, tourists and more. After years of dedication to the sport it is time for a small tribute, or "roast" if you… Continue

THe feeling of an Ace. My god. It adrenalizes the game again.
It is a very special one because it happens to be on the course that I just installed on the campus where I teach High School English, Scotts Valley High School in Santa Cruz, CA. Hole #2. The hardest hole. Blind shot. With the President of the club there, Charles, and the young talent, Clayton. Charles just couldn't believe it. He had never seen an ace. Clayton saw his brother do it once, but he was super… Continue

I finally played my first round since I went to the hospital in late October last year. I have a hiatal hernia so I'm not supposed to be torquing my body that much as I might pull on my ripped diaphram more and potentially cause more problems. I have only worked this entire time and it was 2 days after my birthday so I decided to get out and play.
I played the shorter layout at our older course, Landis Park. This is more of a "pitch and putt' layout with all holes under 300ft and… Continue
