So I played in my first PDGA sanctioned Disc Golf tournament this past weekend (June 21 and 22). I didn't quite play as well as I had hoped. Actually I played pretty horribly. There were two rounds of 21 holes on Saturday and one round of 21 holes on Sunday. The first round started off pretty well but soon fell apart. There was a break of about 2 hours before the second round started. The second round went a little better as I scored 6 shots lower than the first round. The first hole of the… Continue

Dayton, OH- Indian Riffle:
This course is literally impossible to navigate without hearing about it beforehand like I did, or walking backwards from #18 to #6 to find #6. It's a 1,500' walk to #6 from #5, no sign pointing you on the way, and you cross two large busy parking lots and a building to get there. SO be ready for that. Mostly flat and grassy park setting, with about 6 wooded tight and short holes, the rest more open and playing near a pond and a creek sometimes. Nothing very… Continue

I was bending down to retrieve the score card when out of the corner of my eye I saw a glimpse of "Murph" tossing a tomahawk off of the diamond dust tee pad of the #3 hole, the super tight fairway that requires a player to throw out 100' just a few feet off the ground and be within the 6' alotted space between two trees that protect the slight turn to the right while the fairway approaches the 170' pin placement. As I only imagined the flight I turned away… Continue

My Tiggers are a wonderful addition to my bag :) The T-Birds are flying far and straight; the Meteors are turning to the right :) Both got a workout at the Crystal Cruise and I came home with first place, competing against 4 other women with similar abilities. It was anyone's game.....the scores were pretty close. Nice group to play with, too :)

Today I rocked the chains on Hole #14 at Vollrath Bowl in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It is my home course and certainly not the first ace on the course or that hole, but todays ace was something special. A nice 200g 1991 Innova Condor. I bought the Condor from a neighbor who hasnt played in years and I knew he had the gem in his closet. After waiting long enough I asked him if hed be interested in selling and well...I now own the beauty. My first day using it I shot a pretty excellent round using… Continue

Today was dis-heartening but otherwise great. I lost my FLX Drone in a lagoon in Indiana, and my ESP Force in a pond in Ohio. The first was a decent shot that hit off a limb, the other I didn't know there was water behind the basket, it was a blind deceiving hill. I got wet, covered in 1' of mud for one, for both. No luck. Had to go shower the mud off I tried that hard..Got pretty lucky on the weather, too. It was between 60-80 today during the day, and the rain held off during my rounds, but… Continue

Is there anyone that knows some great courses, let me know.

Well, I almost played like I knew what I was doing this weekend at the Rose City Open. Got lots of birdies the 1st and 3rd rounds, but gave them all back (and then some) with bad play and bad luck. However, my back mostly performed well while wearing my brace and I started getting some of my distance off the tee back.
Unfortunately, playing hurt has had a bit of an impact on my rating, as it plummeted to 965 this past ratings period. :(
Hopefully I will be back in form and… Continue

So today I played my first Open sanctioned event. I'm officially done with the Advanced ranks so I'm willing to try to get some cash and accept now. Overall I guess I played some pretty good golf, I came away with 988 and 989 rated rounds on the day. Unfortunately that wasn't good enough to cash at the C-Tier I went to in Columbus. I managed 9th of 20, one stroke out of the cash. Some great players showed up including 7of Ohio's top 10 players plus Barry Schultz. It was the Discraft Westside… Continue

Well the third week of doubles was today and two others including me and a friend showed up .
We played for cash despite the lack of people and did most of the 2nd round in the rain which was fun .
it's still only 3 dollars entry because is a stated before it very casual in bryan and i think a lot of people wont pay 5 or 6 bucks to play and i dont want the few people who have been to almost everyone to not come because of the price ,sure getting better player to show up would be great… Continue

Took almost a whole week off, just played two rounds during that time.
Ft. Wayne, IN: Shoaff-
Very recreational course, short with no rough and no hazards besides one park road. Mix of mature shade trees and newer planted saplings. Fun and well designed, it provides no real challenger, most holes are open enough to throw any which way. Good roller grass. Cement tees, signs and maps w/ scorecards make it nice. Great for what it is.
Ft. Wayne (New Haven), IN:… Continue

Many disc golfers have heard about the mysterious "Competition Manual," which can be found here
(PDF), but many fewer have read it! I suggest that you do as it contains a number of things that function as Rules of Play for PDGA-sanctioned events, many of which you may not already know very well.
It has the same force and effect as the official rules book. See Section 3.1.A for example, "All… Continue

I followed my dad (not caddied because he uses an old-man cart anyway) for the first round and took pictures on the original. He played about as bad as he has on that courses in the past 7-8 years. Good thing he moved down.
There will be some controversy over 2-somes, and lightning delays, probably.
I'm probably going to head toward Ft. Wayne, Indiana tomorrow. It should be a 3 hours drive or so, leaving in the morning. I will play 1-2 of the courses there, the others the next… Continue

I played a private course in Woodstock NY yesterday. It was incredable. I shot a 65 which at a new course is really great for me. It was a very tough up and down course. Not too many holes were long but they were placed well in the woods to give you nice fairways and interesting basket placements. I did get lots of treeflections and very few treejections. Only a couple of holes did I have to play out of the "rough". It is a great course which is still in progress (like most courses). I can't… Continue

We are nearly ready for the possible 100+ people to start showing up in a few hours for check-in and food and disc golf fun the night before DLGO. The course is in better shape than it has ever been in, the front 9 are marked so they can be easily played by anyone.
There's way too much food, enough burgers, hotdogs, sausages, beans, chips, salsa, cookies, vegetables, etc to feed 100+, and with up to 30 large pizzas coming to, so I hope a LOT of people make it out.
These last few days… Continue

Radically Redesigned web site features a cool introduction to disc golf video from Comcast Sports. This segment played in the Chicago-land area and discusses different shots and disc golf lingo. A great video for the new players who will get a perspective on future game elevation. There is also a growing library of quality disc golf videos available for FREE viewing. If you got a cool video you want added to the site please let me know...
