Bill and Carla and I met at Greer this evening and Bill and I played a round. I started out okay but the wheels came off putting on #4. Then I teed off on #5 but threw to the wrong spot. I really had a hard time getting out of that funk until the 14th hole. I ended up at +5 which isn't too bad for me.

Got my first ace yesterday on hole 10 at bradley park in peoria IL using my 175g champ teebird. Its a 250ish foot hole pretty open a pretty large tree off to the right but I threw a shot straight to the basket! It was so awesome!!!!

After finishing 4th in the Am Nationals it was time to test the Open (Pro) division. This last weekend I attended my first ever tournament in which I entered as a professional. It was in Indianapolis, The Checkered Flag Open. I entered the Master Division. I had played this course several times in the past as an amateur at this same event over the years. Never winning it but coming close. Lindsay won her division here back in 05, I think.
I can not find the word(s) to describe the… Continue

This morning I met Bill and Carla to go to the Walhalla course to play a round. Bill invited his friend Nathan and Nathan brought his nephew Joe. So the five of us headed over to Walhalla to play. Poor Nathan has the gout and it was painful for him to get around. He also had to throw flat-footed much of the time because he couldn't step into his throws. That handicap dropped him down to where I could compete with him! Nathan's a pretty good player. His nephew Joe is a good little player for his… Continue

We drove to Kansas City yesterday for the Teepad Open at Cliff Drive. It was PERFECT!
I got my best friend, Ashlyn to go with me. She needs to work on her temperment during the rounds before we go to Worlds; she gets easily frustrated shortly followed by turret-like outbursts. This was good practice for her. I finally got the chance to talk to her about my concerns; I want her to go to Worlds and have an awesome experience. I don't want her to get disqualified because of her… Continue

I was in peoria (a neighboring town to mine) with my girlfriend and conned her into stopping to play a round of disc golf at Bradley Park. She only like to play 9 holes at a time so we only played the back nine. I didn't have my mids or putters with me(see previous blogs) so I was doing pretty badly. She was getting some fours and tieing me on a few holes and I told her that was really good for a girl thats only played 9 holes less than half a dozen times. I ended up finding an unmarked KC Pro… Continue

So this past weekend I played a tournament June 21st. This tournament was sanctioned by the PDGA but due to the city owning the baskets and not the club that hosted the event the course could not be closed. Throughout the tournament there was casuals backing up holes slowing the tournament down. If you left any disc behind they would be taken by the casuals. IMO any course being used for a tournament should be closed to the public. When I am playing in a tournament and have paid cash I should… Continue

Bill talked me into playing doubles at Greer this evening. I was teamed with a guy named Austin who is a much better player than I am. We threw -6 for a 48 to place 3rd. I really struggled with my teeshots, but playing with Austin meant that my teeshots were not going to be used anyway. We won $13 for finishing 3rd. It cost $5 to play plus a dollar for the ace pool. I let Austin take the odd dollar since he carried us, so I broke even in cash. There were 18 for doubles which I think is the most… Continue

Sipapu is a butt kicker as it's up and down a ski resort .

alright i have to Vent because it'll make me feel better.
last night was our wednesday leagues at the local course, i showed up early with a 12pk of beer, which was probably a bad idea. so everything started out great, showed up about an hour early and was bs'n with the locals as they showed up for leagues, drinking and having a good time. by the time the round started i had drank 5 beers so i was feeling pretty loose, it was about 90 degrees with 90% humidity so they were going down… Continue

I went to my normal practice field today to work on my drives for the first time in about three months. Its not a very professionally kept field as its just used by the local Junior Football league. There aren't lines but from when I was a kid playing football there myself I remembered that they paint the lines with the Goal posts at the very back of the end zones. That makes them about 120 yards apart which is about 360ft. In the past I had only thrown one disc actually past the opposite goal… Continue

I finished my vacation with two different courses, making it a total of seven Colorado courses over the span of seven days. But more on the courses later. I would first like to address the last two courses I played.
The first was Ghost Town Country Club and Disc Golf Sanctuary. A private course, it came highly recommended...but you won't be recommended to play it by this author. The course offered an atmosphere and uniqueness unmatched in my 10 years of playing disc golf. It is built… Continue

Played in the local best shot Monday at Rum Village. Drew the wild-man, paid for the extra shot. Went out and shot -13 on 18. I got 8 of 9 on the front nine. Hit a few long putts along the way to do so. The game feels real good right now. I think its time to move up and play in my first Open event. The Checkered Flag Open is this weekend, Sunday. The only decision I have left is....do I play Open or Open Master?!?

After playing for a year now I was lucky enougf to have aced my verry first basket ! I was on hole 12 at Columbia Park Golf Corse in Kennewick WA and drove using a Wraith. It was a R.For-arm drive and as the disk aproached the basket I heard the chains, but thought I had just hit the post. Well as I got in better view I noticed that I had Aced my verry first basket !
That Rocks ! ! !

I was at Auburn Regional Park (Chana high school) last Sunday with my fiance and 3 other friends. I had been playing crappy ... I hadn't had a single par all day ... nothing but bogeys and double bogeys but I keps playing 'cause well duh I love the sport and how am I gonna get better? Well we were on hole 11 which is a long down hill drive with 2 small hills to the left and the right. I have never really done well on this hole, it's so long and I rarely drive that far. It's usually a par-double… Continue

I called Bill and met him and Carla thi evening for 18 holes at Century Park in Greer. I threw a +5 with a couple of ugly holes, but overall it was pretty so-so for me. I hadn't played for a couple of weeks and miss Bill and Carla. I had mowed for over an hour before going so I was a little tired when I got there. Being a little tired usually helps my sidearm throws.

As many of you know, last Saturday, June 20th, two baskets were stolen from Weatherford DGC.
At this time we only have 174.00 in our course fund due to the recent transfer of over two thousand dollars for cement teeboxes. We cannot afford the replacement costs at this time so instead of the normal mini on Saturday, July 4th, we will be running a fundraising mini.
This will be a singles event with the ace pot in effect, along with CTP's. We will try to have CTP's for all eighteen holes… Continue
