Day one is in the books. I think the heat index had to be over 120 degrees. I'm not sure what is was exactly but I do know is was friggin HOT. It wasn't so bad when we teed off at 10:37am but it quickly became extreme. So extreme in fact that a couple of the Adv Grand Masters dropped out because of it. I hope you guys are alright Doug and Bill.
Our round took us just over four hours to complete and I have to admit it was a bit of a struggle down the stretch.
I took Propel packets and… Continue

I don't know how many people have paid attention to the weather in North Texas the last 24 hours but it's been pretty severe indeed.
Yesterday was Wednesday and we have a random draw doubles mini on Wednesday night. My buddy Barry called me around five asking if we were still having it and I told him I'd come out to the park and we'd have a beer and see what the weather was going to do.
When I got ot the park, there was five or six people waiting on me and the weather was just… Continue

So I made it out to IIT 9 hole course on campus.
first, everything that people complain about is true. the course is short, there are a lot of people around (not playing), and you are playing in between buildings.
on the plus side though its straight south of my house. walk to the corner, get on bus, wait 10 minutes, get off bus which drops me off at the first tee.
the campus is nice though, the tees are well marked and the baskets are bright and new. great for… Continue

I'm relatively new to disc golf. I started playing at the very end of last year casually and am just now getting into it more seriously. I entered my first tournament this summer and ended up winning. Granted it was only the beginners division but I am proud of it none the less. As much as I love disc golf I have a few other hobbies that I love just as much.
I go to the gym to lift weights at least three times a week and go to my judo class four times a week. I've been fairly… Continue

Tomorrow, I embark upon a tumultuous journey...full of work, family, parties, and disc golf. From Santa Fe we are off to Denver for a work training that will keep my mind occupied until Saturday, whence I shall begin my trek. Without the children, my wife and I will enjoy a late night party smorgasbord at the Electric Daisy Carnival--after that it is to Winter Park for 6 days of mountainous vacation.
The Winter Park home is no further than 20 miles from great mountain disc golf.… Continue

I took a pair of putters to the basket out back and found the old 12 and 24 foot markers. I have 12 and 24 feet marked in 45 degree increments around the basket, then I move back in two foot segments while I work my way around the basket. With 2 putts from each spot that makes for 112 putts. I was pretty good until I reached 20 feet, then my putting was pretty erratic. That should come back with practice.

my first post.
let see.... I have been disc'n since 200 when some friends introduced me to the game. I loved how casual they made the game play and followed their own rules. I continued to play on and off over the next 8 years. Last season I finally got around to buying my own discs and actually keeping score when I play.
This year I have been so excited to get out and play again. I have never kept track of the fields I have played our where they are located I would just… Continue

Saturday was typical Kansas discgolf weather: Hot and windy with a high dose sun. Sunday was absolutelyl beautiful. The clouds rolled in just as we hit the heat of the day. could not have asked for better timing. The ACDGC did a great job of readying both Herman Hill and Oak Park. Something like $4,000 in added sponserhip including discs, snacks, coupons, and Pizza provided by Little Deb and Nick (Bunch Masonry)for all players Sunday afternoon. My drives were looking great all weekend, even… Continue

I went to the big field at Greenville Middle School to throw this evening. I threw over 100 discs, practicing sidearms, backhands, tomahawks, thumbers, rollers, and approaches. My sidearm is about 260 to 290 consistently while my backhand is a puny 150 to 175 feet. Tomahawks are about 150, thumbers around 230. Rollers are 300 + but are also all over the place. If I can learn to control the rollers, it would help my game. I also learned what tomahawks do when I throw them. It might be a useful… Continue

One of my goals came true this past weekend when my wife played in the tournament. Andrea threw more in the tournament in two rounds than all other throws combined (practice, etc...). She made me very proud and would be willing to consider doing some more smaller tournaments.
I gave my sister in law some discs Sunday in hopes that she will play in local one disc challenge at the end of the month with us.

what makes an event great? For me,its challenging holes, good friends to compete with(thanks Jack),smart event planners, and nice weather.T.D. Bob was friendly and ran the event smoothly. The locals I played with were quality golfers and nice folk. the courses were hard(very). the format of 48 holes day 1 and24 day 2 is the best.only a handful of players came.why? no women came to play? we need more people to play in these events and I dont see how this could be run better.

Today at the Zoo Town Open I claimed some retribution for the second round the day before. I was solid all day and on hole 16 "Mirkgrass" a par 5 approx. 800 ft. hole with ob on each side of a 20 ft. fairway my drive with my Assassin went about 400 ft. down the right side of the fairway and faded to the edge of OB but stayed in. My second shot was another 400 ft. shot with the same Assassin that I played about 70 ft to the right and let hyzer back, the disc came spiking through the trees and… Continue
