Steve and I went to Greer again this evening to play before the little tournament tomorrow. After work I went to Academy Sports to buy another Champion Valkyrie. I found what I wanted and also bought another bag. When i got home Steve called and we set a time to meet at Greer. I got there early and found my lost disc in the creek. So now I have a pair of Valkyries to use.
We played the course and I struggled through the front nine at -1. I threw 2 bogeys and three birdies. I got into… Continue

So, in only my second year of playing disc golf I wrapped up the series winning the advanced women championship. I was pretty happy about it, considering I didn't even have to play in the last event to still win. I was a little bummed to win with not a lot of women in the division, but I think that next year will prove to be more challenging. I was a little worried at the end, but pulled it off anyway!!! Gotta love disc golf!!!

In the last ten years, I have been busy with my wonderful wife, and what now are five beautiful children. Disc golf for the better part of this time has been casual throwing of discs at a Tri-state basket I bought from Avery Jenkins (best wishes, friend). We are departing next Friday for a week in Williamsburg, VA. In noticing the path to drive there, I can't help but recall a fond memory of a virtually identical journey on this trail...
In 1998 (I think), I was playing in PDGA… Continue

Steve wants to play in the tournament at Greer this weekend so we played a round tonight. It's been over a year since I played with Steve. I played so-so and had some bad trees to finish at +5. I also lost one of my oldest discs in the creek along 16. It had been raining so the creek was very murky and I couldn't find it. I'll have to see if I can find another one to replace it.

Sheila and I had expected to see a lot of you folks in Kansas City this week. We weren't going to compete this year, but instead were going to run one of the courses. Luckily the folks managing the event had backup for us, because we ended up not being able to go.
Last year, many disc golfers local to Ann Arbor met our nephew, Andy Ross, when he stayed with us a few months. (He was the guy in the red ball cap who cooked food at both the USADGC and the DGLO players… Continue

Well, I put up the old Cleveland Indians' song from the early 80's on my page, and what do you know? They are off to a 6-1 start on their 9-game road trip! I suppose this'll jinx it, but perhaps the spirit of Joeboo lives on through DGRUS!

To all the discos I've loved before,
I hope everyone is well. I haven't been at the course at all lately and feel like I need to explain myself. It's crazy how you can love something so much one day, and then hardly think about it the next. School, work and adopting my new family has taken a huge precedence where I used to place DG. I think about all of you and how much you still mean to me and how much I wish I saw you guys more often. I've started a new job as a full-time studio… Continue

As the title says thats where my group ended up play on Sunday. 7-26-09
We had a couple people that it was their firt time out and the rest of us were just a little rusty.
I had not played this course in over a year and I dont remember why i stopped going back. The park is really nice. All the baskets are easy to find and its really shady. There are very few places you can actually lose your disc at.
we played 17 holes then took a break to bbq there at the… Continue

I met Bill to play Greer before he played doubles today. Christine (Brandon's wife) showed up and played with us. After we teed off Brent (A new player) also joined in to play. I played pretty well for me. I was +2 for a 56. I bogeyed #3, birdied #4, and took a double bogey on #11. I parred everything else. I had a gimme birdie putt on #7 that I just didn't put into the chains. I also should have made my birdie putt on #16, although it was very awkward. My tee shot on #11 has to just skim by a… Continue

I went out to play an early 12 holes this morning at 5:30, as I do everyday before work and had a tremendous day.
Seven down, bogey free through on 12 holes with an ace--my second this in a month after a 6 year drought--not bad work for 5:30 in the morning.
Plan on 36 more this afternoon--hope to duplicate the effort.

I made it out to West Park in Joliet around the last week in June. I was pretty rusty but ended up finishes +5.
in my own mind not bad, especially after all the beers and smoking before the game.
other than that I have been playing the IIT course a few more times.
hoping to get out this weekend, hit more than one course and get a few pictures.

I want to do this. I keep telling myself that. Yes, it's true, but oh my. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started thinking about how fun it would be to host a disc golf tournament.
The good side? It's for women only, which means, by default, it just can't get that big. There aren't that many women who play - so that's good right? The original idea (the one I keep selling to my club members as they stare at me with their wary "don't even think of asking me to… Continue

Well, after serious consideration on the idea of driving up to Kansas City, even after I have now lost my job, has made me reconsider. The idea came to me that I should not come up after I left one of my meetings...we talked about paying attention to the signs we are shown... I realized after all that I've been going through lately, with financial struggles, a flat tire, losing my job, and wondering where I'm going to be living in Sept., we should not be running off to play golf at this time,… Continue

so yesterday myself and my wife took a trip to summertown tn to play the course at the farm and i must say that in the 2 years that i have been playing golf i had the best time ever this weekend. to start it out we got there and i saw a bunch of golf carts parked and then it hit me that this was going to be the best round that i have ever had. so as we started the round i found it so awesome that i did not have to carry my bag or walk from hole to hole. we played a doubles round with 5 groups… Continue

We have all been there. In a group, ready to play, excited about being on the course and looking forward to a good time. Only problem is "he's" in the group. You know that guy, he swears after every shot, the world is against him, garbage cans and tee markers fear him and he just seems to always make things a little uncomfortable for the whole group.
This can often be a touchy situation. Part of you says tell this joker to hit the road while another part says let's just play. Sadly i… Continue

Well, I have to say, after starting to play again, it is really amazing to see the improvements made to Roscoe Ewing Park, Ohio's first disc golf course. The new bridges, the longer holes, the dramatic pin placements...all of it make Roscoe a serious challenge from even the short tees. Not many easy holes here, but not many plain ones, either. You'll be playing a unique course when you head out there.
BIG kudos to team Jenkins for putting on a fantastic Roscoe's Revenge, as well as… Continue

Was out at kensington a few times during the week, was installing a home theater near by, and got to investigate the new course a little bit and how it will play out. Most of the holes on the west side of the tunnel are reused, but with baskets moved, all fun to play but disappointing to lose a few. Then we noticed the long tee for the new hole one, and where the basket placement was, and it gave the course a lot of hope.…
