Nick, a buddy from work and I went to Holmes Park after work to play a couple of nine hole rounds. Nick has never played before so he wanted to give it a try. I didn't play very well, but we had a good time flinging discs. I was even par the first time around with a birdie on 7and a bogey on 8. The second time around I missed the mando on 3 for a double bogey. I also bogeyed 4 by missing a borderline putt, but I got in back on 6 with a line straight putt. Nick hit a couple of long putts and was… Continue

not from throwing discs (I wish), but from wringing out tie-dye t-shirts. We're dying the shirts that will be part of the player's pack for a little fundraiser tournament on Labor Day. AJ, April and I did the tying on this most recent batch of 20 shirts and AJ and I applied the dye. We let the shirts sit for 48 hours which helps the dye really set in and get colorful. But yesterday I was on my own to rinse out the shirts, wash'em, dry'em and fold'em. Rinsing is a big task, as you have to rise… Continue

This was originally posted on another site (about 2 years ago) but I was never credited for it so I'm running it here.
How long have you been playing?
I’ve been playing about 10 years.
Are you a student of the game?
Do you read books on ball golf that can be applied to disc golf? I don’t really read at all. Even if I did, I wouldn’t read books on regular golf. The two games are completely different right? I mean one has a ball. That’s funny that… Continue

I called Bill and met him and Carla in Greer for a round tonight. While we were teeing off Dillon, one of the kids that hangs out at the park, came running over wanting to play with us. Dillon is a kid that doesn't throw well at all, but he talks incessantly and takes forever to throw. He also pesters us while we are trying to throw. So a round with Dillon is an exercise in patience.
I was throwing a fair round (for me), but the wheels came off at the end of the round. I missed a par… Continue

I had the day off work and played The Oaks in Mokena again. A buddy and I started early around 8am. Played all 27 holes and I finished at 6 under par. Probably my best game to date!
There was not a single person on the course besides us. I think that even more enjoyable than my score.

Erica and I went back to Gower tonight and went around twice. I was even par both times with a birdie on 4 and a bogey on 5 then a birdie on 3 and a bogey on 4 again. I am struggling with my tee shot on 5, but once I get it back I will get that hole. I took a large bag and we hauled two bags of trash out of the woods. It is still full of beer cans. They were playing softball on the field along 8 and that really bothers me while teeing off. I should have birdied 8, but I didn't.

Check out this story on ESPN.com. They cover some of the Vibram Open, history of the sport and more. It's great exposure if we can get more people to read it.

I am sick and tired of wasteful, lazy and ignorant people! I will give you a specific.
The school year has begun again and that means kids getting dropped off and picked up by car. Friday was my daughters first day and she cannot ride the bus because we live too close. My wife and I drove her to school. There was a line of cars waiting for the doors to open. That's to be expected. We park and wait. It's a nice day, we sit with the car off and the windows open. Others wait just like… Continue

Erica and I met to play at Gower this evening. I threw for a while waiting for her and it started raining once she arrived. We waited a few minutes and the rain cleared up so we started off. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th holes play in heavy woods and once we were in there we could hear the rain start up again and was falling on the canopy of trees. We finished the 4th and could see that it was coming down pretty good, so we stopped at a nearby picnic shelter and waited it out. After about 5 minutes the… Continue

Erica and I met at Greenville Middle to throw on the field, but they had the sprinklers on. So we went to Holmes Park to play a couple of rounds. I was even after the first 9 holes with a bogey on 4 and a birdie on 9. We ran into Steve and Faith Greene out for their constitutional and I gave them a "Hooty- Hoo!" We went around again and I was -2 with birdies on 2, 3, and 7 and a bogey on 8.
Erica is improving. She is starting to keep her score and not just throw. If she'll play more… Continue

Well today I went and played my first round of disc golf since March. It felt really good to be back out on the course. I ran into some people I went to high school with on hole six and finished my round out with them.....
One of the most exciting things of the day was that I threw my best game ever today! I threw 2+ from the red tees (shorts). I couldn't believe after being off the course for 5 months I played my best game ever.... I definately plan on play more often now and getting… Continue
