Just a note to everyone on the site, I have been pounding the web looking for a site like this for a few months now and I am happy as hell that I stumbled on to this site. It makes me feel good to see the following that DG has gotten in the last 5 yrs or so and I am happy to be apart of it.

I got two new pairs of shoes, they should be the last I will need on this trip leaving me a few for when I get back too. There was a Cabela's near Austin so I shopped around for awhile, and ended up with two that I've already worn through before, a pair of Columbia Tigertooth (really long lasting and tight grip, great support and my old pair still works great but have been used for 150+ rounds) and a pair of NB- 521 (bought some for pro worlds last year, wore em through winter at work they are… Continue

One of the most defined skills of any professional player is the ability to throw accurate and precise approaches in any situation. These shots are most helpful when playing long holes that are just out of reach off the tee or in certain predicaments following errant drives on wooded holes when a stroke-saving shot is required.

2 weeks into the Confidence Putting program and I'm sticking with it. Even went to an all weekend music festival (video and pics forthcoming) and still managed to get my practice in!
We played Whisky Golf which... doesn't really need an explanation now does it?

Stupid ******-******* hurricane Ike just ruined my trip.
Oh and I got an ace today, but too frustrated to really care, plus it was only 110'.
It's VERY CLEAR now that going to Houston or anywhere nearby is out of the question, not just for this week but for the rest of the trip. That area was going to fill a week of my time, and since I'm already way ahead of schedule in terms of where I am in the country, I don't know where to go or what to do next. I can always finish… Continue

It's 95 degrees and sunny as heck right now, on the far-away-from-Ike side of the state. Glad I'm over here and not over there. I think it's the first time I've seen the sun in 5 days. Ran into a small doubles tournament going on at the courses in San Angelo, but they let me play through, thanks guys.
I REALLY don't know what to do now, with Houston being wrecked and all. I think it'd be prudent to stay away from there, to let them fix it up and stay out of their way, if it's even… Continue

Some people say Bruce Brakel hates the pros. I really don't. Hate gives me an acid stomach. I cannot spend much time hating anything or I pay for it all the way through the digestive process. There are a lot of pros I know and like, in no particular order other than alphabetical, including, Brett Comincioli, Mark Ellis, Kirk Haggadone, Al Schack, Barrett White, even if i might misspell or mispronounce their names.
I don't have any hate for the pros. I also don't have any money for… Continue

well I haven't been playing as much as i usually do which means I haven't played in 4 days which is a stretch for me.
I have been doing my putting lately tough I played yesterday which as i said was the first time in 4 days and my arm felt tight even after warm up but I still had good distance though I hit 400 feet on the holes i always do but what was good about the round was my putting was red hot and i shot a personal best of -5 in Bryan which is only nine holes with 2 of these holes… Continue

Man was it ever flooded in Lubbock though! 8.22" of rain in a day, the previous record was 5.50".
So many roads closed off, schools canceled, boats washed away, some houses with water in them by the course, nearly 1/3rd of the holes in town were underwater, some in a new lake and some in raging waters from an overflown run-off by a dam. It made for a tough day. Thanks, Mike for showing me what you could at Buffalo Springs.
Check out the pictures of underwater baskets if I can upload… Continue

According to the TV news, Lubbock TX has receieved 7" of rain, a new record for the city. I just happen to be stuck here for this.
They said many major routes are completely impassable, and police and firefighters had to rescue someone from a car already. The road outside my hotel is impassable, and I may be stuck here tomorrow morning as they say they don't expect the water level to go down soon. More rain to come.
The courses will probably be impossible to play anyway,… Continue

Someone else from my school is creating the disc golf club, he is more experienced with the game so I stepped down officially as of yesterday, (Wed.), otherwise today I would have gotten my club approved. This will be exciting!

I played a round at Homes tonight. I took a couple of warm up throws from the first tee pad and they looked very good. Then my arm went completely dead. It takes about 30 seconds to recover from that, but my tee shot after that was wild. I threw it up the hill and curled it around the shelter. It had good distance but was way off line. I put my approach down by the basket but my putt fell out of the chains for a bogey. I birdied 2, 6, and 7 while parring the rest to end up at -2. I arm went… Continue

So, today I decided I really need a new putter. So it was off to peru. I made it to honeybear, but it was raining a little. I went inside the store and found me a white, 149g, star aviar! 14 bucks!
It came in handy during the game, made a couple of nice putts.
AND I found a use for the Roc!
At honeybear, there's this short 150 footer, over a ravine and the basket is in between 2 trees.
I wasn't sure whether to throw a putter or what. I had a good feeling… Continue

We are getting way too much rain in northern Texas right now, several times on the way to Lubbock I had to plow through deep water, one road was blocked off by police. Entire fields and yards and businesses parking lots are underwater. I'm not even sure I can get out of my hotel's parking lot right now, so I'm not going to try. I almost got stuck coming into it, felt like a boat, water over a foot deep easily. I need to play another round today to fit my plan, but the course is supposed to be… Continue

Raining. It's been raining since I woke up, not stopping for a second it seems. Still raining here hundreds of miles away. I got soaked many times and had to change after every round, so the laundry is in the wash at my hotel. One course was a total loss, Duncan Lake in Duncan, OK- it said in the guide not often mowed in the summer. They weren't kidding. It is unplayable right now, waist high grass and weeds and ivy in the fairways, so I didn't bother trying to play it.
Since I woke up… Continue
