I ran over to Holmes for a quick round tonight. I didn't play especially well as I ended up at +3 for 30. I threw two birdies on #3 and #6, but I took a double bogey on #4. My tee shot was a FAT hard side-arm throw about 30 feet off the tee box. (FAT = First Available Tree!) I thought that I had thrown a great recovery shot to save a bogey, but when I got to the basket I was over 40 feet above the basket. I wimped out on my putt and it hyzered away from the basket then caught an edge and rolled… Continue

I went over to Timmons for a quick round today. I scored pretty poorly, but I didn't play as poorly as the 60 would indicate. Once the score went in the tank, it was time to try different discs and different throws in various places. Some worked well and others did not. I have new Star Roadrunner, Champion Valkyrie, and Elite Surge SS discs that I am trying to develop a feel for how they throw,. They got a work out once my score had tanked. I did birdie 14 and 16 but I had three water penalties… Continue

Well... I played well, for me, and took 10th out of 19 and won $15 in discs!! Great day, long day. 72 holes in 11 1/2 hours. I was +6 at Griggs Reservoir DGC, -2 at Blendon Woods Metropark DGC, even par on Hoover DGC from the short tees (personal best), and -1 on Hoover A-I short (ties personal best) then +4 on A-I long tees (personal best). Overall, a great day.

I met Bill and Carla at Greer early this afternoon for a round. I just didn't have a thong for that course. I was up 3 on the front and up four more on the back to end up with a +7 for a 61. That is very disappointing. It's very seldom that I play in the heat of the day and out in the sun, but I have played there in the sunny part of the day when it was hotter and didn't play that poorly. What can you say? Bill played only slightly better than I did and he was disgusted by his play too! But… Continue

I went to Timmons for a quick round tonight to prove to myself that the +7 I threw last week was a fluke. I threw a few discs off the first teepad when an out-of-towner named James asked if he could play a round with me. He also had an 11-week-old English bulldog to help us play. I took 2 water penalties for double bogeys on 5 and 18 but birdied 2, 6, 14, 15, and 17 to end up at -1. I was happy but also disappointed because I was -3 on the 18th teepad. But overall it was a pretty good round.… Continue

I am playing in my first tourney tomorrow. The King of the Courses!! Basically a disc golf marathon. 36 holes, eat lunch, 36 holes! So, hopefully I do decent enough to maybe win something. I had no idea what division to play in, so I picked Recreational. I don't play enough to call myself more than that. More updates tomorrow on how it went.

We are down to two days before we leave for the big island and I can't wait. I'm not really looking foward to the plane ride but I know it'll be worth it when we get there.
My wife and I are going to celebrate our eleventh anniversary. We were going to go to St. Johns last year but the economy tanked so we decided to wait and see what was going to happen. Now, with all the stimulus and buy-outs etc etc. we find not much has changed, other than the fact that we just got a year older. We… Continue

I played last evening and tied my year's best on the regular 18 at +1 (I play all the holes as par 3's from the standard tees) and shot +1 on the third 9 which was ok. Had 5 birdies in 27 holes, but missed a few par putts from within makable range. So, while I played pretty well, I am a little dissappointed in the score.
On the bright side I am starting to narrow down my bag. My primary discs are now a slightly worn Star Valkyrie for most drives (starting to throw a Hyzer Flip with… Continue

I found a Disc, this sunday on hole 5 at Rolling hills michigan, i call the number on the back and hoped to be able to return it to the person. I received a phone call back that night saying they had lost it on friday and were glad to know somebody found it and had called the number to return it. I met the man "Rick" on monday and was able to return the disc to him shortly after i arrived at the course. I then proceeded to throw the best round i've ever thrown on any course on Monday. I ended… Continue

It’s been called “the greatest golf disc ever made” by Discraft lovers, and sometimes referred to as “a cheap knockoff” by Innova fan boys. I am of course talking about the ever-popular Discraft BUZZZ.
The Discraft Buzzz mid-range will forever be compared to the similar Innova Roc. In fact every disc golf message board sees a, “Roc or Buzzz?” thread pop up almost weekly, drawing the ire of seasoned disc golf readers. The truth is, both are amazing discs. I carry both in my bag.… Continue

Hey all fellow disc golfers, a friend of ours was in TN just a while back playing some courses and he ended up leaving his bag and all of his disc at a course somewhere near Smyrna, if any of you are from that area and hear of these he would pay to get them returned to him. Thanks so much everyone. Continue

Nick challenged Erica to a disc golf dual with me at Timmons Park, but then Nick dropped out at the last minute due to losing a tooth. So it was just Erica and me at Timmons. I played terribly! In the first 10 holes I had 4 water penalties and ended up at +7. I only had 2 birdies and I had several bad holes. It would have been a good night for Nick to challenge us since Erica played even worse than I did. It was fairly windy, but I have played in the wind many times. I know that I was very… Continue

I finished 3rd in the AM II division. Way better than I thought for the first PDGA tier tournament I've ever played in. I've played in plenty of weekly's, but this brought disc golf to a new level.
