Timmons - Front Nine and Worse

I threw the front nine at Timmons and was worse than before. I feel like I'm throwing better but I'm far enough off that things turn out badly. I ran into Bill and Carla and Bill Meeks. My neck is still very sore and my right arm feels like I have a belt that is too tight on it. What a bummer!

Ants in the Pants

Big thanks first to Matt Monczka for putting me up for the night! Fellow former Michigander.

I got attacked by fire ants today at Floral Park, just walking down hole #3 and suddenly my whole left shoulder and neck and hand start flaring up and I'm like WT* is going on. Since I'm not used to this, I really didn't know and when I saw the ants I freaked out. Had to take my shirt and hat off and throw the bag down. Still had them on me for 6 holes. I don't know where they came from or… Continue

Huk'in in the Steel City

This weekend we drove down to Pueblo, CO. to play on the "City Park Course", it seems we head down that way every Oct. It was sunny but with a chilly breeze, (weak cold front) but it's such a enjoyable course to play. It's not really a "BIG ARM" course more of a tech. course and that's the kind I like! As an OLD thrower, with heavy arthritis, those courses with 500+ holes are a total waste of time for me. I like courses with tree's, bends, creeks, etc. it makes the game are real challenge. The… Continue

First divisional win (am3)

After a very fun and hard fought round i was one stroke back of first. the second round was much different. It was a glow round for one. Second there were shenanigans which was kind of cool. I also had a really bad few holes and dropped out of it. So after that i said screw it im here for fun now. then i realized that i was making sort of a come back. my mind set got better and so did my play. I started paring while others were taking fours then i hit a few birds when i need too and lots of… Continue

Non-rabid fox

I saw another one today, slinking by the basket at McLean.

Ft. Walton Beach, FL- Ferry:Directions need a'fixin', I couldn't find hole #1 but found #7, so I started there expecting to find #18 and then #1 by default at the end. In fact #18 was well hidden, and I almost gave up looking for #1-6. It says 'First tee between baseball field and tennis court', when in fact you have to walk between them, cross a creek, cross a field, cross a parking lot, then find the tee hidden… Continue

What's up with all these disc golfers throwing those inferior INNOVA discs don't they know that the best discs in the world are made by DISCRAFT. Hope I didn't hurt anyones feelings but a man has to stand for what he believes.

Rabid Fox

On hole #7 at Pirates Cove, after I threw my drive, into the rough, a ranger comes 'round the bend and says you may have to skip the next hole, there's a rabid fox on the loose, as he stalks forward to catch it. 2 minutes later he comes back, with a fox swinging from a loop on a pole. He said it looks like it wasn't rabid, but maybe got into some chemical like antifreeze that was causing it to act weird and might mean it's demise. :(

Apparently Joe McCain loves the F-Bomb as much as… Continue

Markleeville Course Approved

October 21st the disc golf course at Turtle Rock Park was approved by the Alpine County Board. I assisted David Peets (Alpine Co. Assessor) with the presentation to the board. It was a slam dunk. No one was opposed. Their response was "So, you want to build a disc golf course in an unused part of the park, with volunteer labor, and pay for the equipment with private funds? Okay". Yup, just let us use our public land and we will get it done. We are a self sustaining sport. No subsidies for… Continue

I played the Halloween Howler doubles with Eddie, because the temp. course was not yet set-up and I felt like throwing some more. We didn't win, but shot fairly well. I couldn't drive, but I actually putt well with my new style.

Tomorrow I'll be in Pensacola and Milton, FL.

Valley residents compete in disc golf tournament at Deming Park

TERRE HAUTE — On Sept. 27, a disc golf tournament was staged in Deming Park. The tournament was co-sponsored by the Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department and The Element Outdoor Outfitters.

The tournament was noteworthy for several reasons. It is the first of what local disc golfers hope will be many privately sponsored cash payout tournaments.

There were two tournaments. Discraft, one of the… Continue

My Putting Game Improvements

I have been developing putting training games to help myself improve my short game and putting. It has been close to three weeks and my confidence as well as my accuracy and shot inventory has greatly improved already. Before I began reworking my putting i would make mostly all puts from 10' and in which is normal even for a one armed blind hooker. I would make about half of my shots outside of 20' which sucked royally. My 30' range was really struggling because I was making less than a quarter… Continue

My back gave out on me today. No work tomorrow and no disc golf for who knows how long. This really sucks, I'm not the kind of guy that likes that messed up feeling you get on painkillers either. God I need to throw!

Even Worse at Timmons

Bill and I played Timmons again today. I threw a gut wrenching 71 with a 7 on #3 and a snowman on #10. My putting was dead straight but I was up and down and the wind was blowing it up and down. I also had some tremendous rollaways today. I had one on #3 and #6 with a pair on #10. After being sick and still fighting with this pinched nerve, I am just jumping in and will have to build from where I am. And I am pretty far behind the curve.

Real vandalism

I just played Springhill Hobbit and had the opportunity? to call the police. After playing 14? who knows what hole it was because it's poorly marked, might have been hole 16..anyways..a maroon Yukon comes flying down the trail along the fence, off road in the park. I wait and it comes back, I make a hand motion and it comes right by me, so I stand behind a cement pillar in case it's some psycho, and I see some kids, the driver gives me a shocked look as he sees me whip out a sharpie and write… Continue

The King of Rocs and Rollers

I met the King at Chickasaw today, driving around the park in a red pick-up, he works there. Also designed it, maintains it and has been playing since before my time. He also designed Citronelle (and Desert Fox @ Paul B Johnson), which if you read yesterday's blog, I really liked. So good job. He wanted me to stress that it's (Chickasaw) is no longer an old, short course and that people should really come check it out. And they should.

Halloween Howler- really not planning to play,… Continue
