The ice bowl is in less then a month and today didn't feel to bad,(15 degrees).I was supprised because I thought it wouldbe to cold but my urge to work on my game was stronger.I still have more gear that I didn't wear that will make me even warmer.I think I'll be ok as long as its not to much below zero. This will be my second sanctioned event but my first with a PDGA #,can't wait, hope I do good.

So I threw another 62 at my home course mini this past Saturday. It could have been (should have been) a 61 but I missed an easy putt for par on the 2nd to last hole. I felt like, other than that hole, I putted well. It didn't hurt that I was placing my up shots well and leaving myself relatively easy putts. I'm proud of the way I played and I am realizing that I just need to play within myself and I will score well. Most of all I really had fun.

I started playing recreational disc golf around the age of 17, thanks to a friend of mine Al. Allan Beasley would instruct me whether I liked it or not (thanks Al), I've also had a whole lot of other great players to learn from (i.e. Tim Skellenger, Jerry and Brody Miller, Sean Phillips, Ladd Klink, Ty Baker, Jeramie Lankins are some of the names). In my beginning frolfing years I would just go out for fun with the guys, but then my pops signed me up for my first competitive tournament, the… Continue

Various people have asked me to work up super hero logos for dyed discs. I have a Batman that I've done and can do again:
You can click on that picture to see a bigger version at my photo dump site.
Tonight I went to work on a Superman. The black and white art is now pretty much ready to be sent to the lady who cuts my masks. This is what the artwork looks like… Continue

Foreward : last year I kinda gave my wife the business when she forgot about our anniversary.
I returned from a busy day at work to our snow bound home clueless to the fact that today was our anniversary. An empty home left me wondering what to do with myself. "Me" time is a rarity in my life since we have three young kids. Decided to shovel out the thick wall of snow created by plows recent drive-by. In Ypsilanti we just received over 10" of fresh snow just in time for Christmas.… Continue

Gary called many from our old group to play an "out of shape / sore arm doubles" in Easley. But by mid-morning it was sprinkling and misting, so very few showed up. We ended up with 6 players and Carla. Gary and his son Doug were there. Nathan and a fellow Wayne that I hadn't met before and Bill and Carla were there. We drew for partners. It was Bill and Nathan, Gary and Wayne, and Doug and me. I didn't play especially well, but I had a couple of good throws. The three groups were very evenly… Continue

Grand Woods Park is one of those places that you love to hate. I am not just speaking of the course itself, but the atmosphere. On any given day you can see everything that is halting the growth of our great sport. There are people smoking pot right in the runner pathways, drunks put their bottles everywhere except the trash cans. The casual players play in groups far too large for a smooth transition through a round. Over the summer lone golfers were mugged right in the open. Grand Woods Park… Continue

This happens to be one of my favorites. It is Red Wine Pork, broccoli and spicy cheese, baked potato, seven layer salad, and Turtle pie. Winter is here and the course is empty. The groups of ten hapless disc golf "enthusiasts" that normally tee off right before you get your bag out of the car are hibernating for the next few months. The air is cold and you know that the six pack of Bells winter ale will be a fine slushy, just like the ones 7-eleven used to sell. You probably look silly with so many layers on, some may think that you are doing your very best impersonation of a Jet-Puffed Marshmellow. You are only wearing one… Continue

When I was a little kid, I lived in Walnut Creek, California. Most of my extended family lived nearby, Carmel, Pebble Beach and Monterrey. Every Christmas, my parents, my brother and I would drive up to visit. Every Christmas Eve was spent with my Dad's side of the family. This usually involved many members of the family and included dinner, presents, caroling, watching home movies and one of the adult men dressing up as Santa. Christmas morning was spent with my Mom's side which involved only… Continue

Well as one or two of you may recall, I recently took a fall while playing at Morley. Seems some of the concrete on the course wasn't up to Par and broke when I planted my foot during a follow through. Well needless to say, I have had my wrist in a brace for the last few weeks and haven't been able to play a round since then. I am however hoping to get back out this weekend and play at least one round on Sunday!

It's going to very tough to make a top-25 list.
These 80+ are just after going down the list quickly, there are probably another dozen that should make the short list I didn't see on first pass. If you want to recommend one that I played you don't see let me know, or have support/bad words for any of these courses let me know.
