By noon on Friday, there will be an additional 7-11" of snow on the ground on top of the already 4" or so. It is coming in late tonight so I'll probably be at work all night, glad to get whatever I can get right now so I won't have to touch my savings account.
I will begin working on Best/Worst courses lists today, expecting to whittle down a Top -25 list by the end of the day and will post it.
I'd practice putting, but my fingers lock up within minutes and become hard to… Continue

When I am preparing to throw in 0-30 degree weather I like to layer up. Thick/warm socks are a must have, 2 pairs of sweatpants with a pair of thin nylon type pants over them, a long sleeve shirt, thin fleece vest (good for chest warmth), a hoodie, a fleece balaclava (these are awesome for extreme cold), waterproof boots and a pair of warm gloves. Anything above 20 degrees and I am losing the hoodie and a pair of sweatpants. With this combination of layering I am able to stay warm and get a… Continue

I played the temporary course on the way back home from Garden City Saturday and it was marked pretty well with a restroom but I was the only person out there. The parks dept did a good job for the temporary course on about 4 usuable acres (Bay St Park which was flooded completely during Hugo and did considerable damage to nearby houses) looking out over Winyah Bay. Most holes are 150' or less but two holes are around 300'. If anyone is between MB and Charleston play a quick round because the… Continue

Playing in Open for the first time this past year kinda re-ignited my love for competitive play...even if I wasn't exactly competitive with all the players in my division each time :) Getting to play alongside some great golfers like Matt Orum, JD Ramirez, Chris Smith, Devan Owens, and many others this year showed me that I have a long way to go before I can make a name for myself in this sport...but I'm up for the challenge!
In 2009, I want to focus on playing more large sanctioned… Continue

Anyone else just seem less motivated to play now that the snow has arrived? I love disc golf in any weather or so I thought. The snow discing Idea just does not appeal to me at all. I cannot seem to justify to myself why I should throw disc with 6 inches of snow on the ground and 20 degree weather. I want to justify it to myself because I want to throw. I feel like it would be a big pain in the ass to find my discs on blind holes or if I happen to mess up and throw bad I probably wont find the… Continue

Ace #5 came on December 15, 2008 at Park Circle Hole #7. I threw a Pro Destroyer backhand on a sky hyzer, and it went straight through the trees around the basket and into the cage. No witnesses, but it was my second ace in 2 weeks since the Charleston Classic!

I got an e-mail from my oldest daughter today. She sent me this list http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/full-list-of-stuff-white-people-like/ The title of her message was "hilarious and sadly true" I did not find the list either amusing or sad. If anything, I found it somewhat artificial but close to home for me- an educated, liberal white boy. I am sure there are lots of white people who would not reasonate with the list. I am sure there are plenty of people of color who would do… Continue

This weeks tough layout (thanks Mike B!), finally caught up to me.
Saturday (in heavy wind) +4
Sunday (in heavy wind) +6
Sunday (windy) +4
I saw one of the best executed shots ever today. Brandon Langston and I were teeing off on hole 6 at Morley. He threw a shot that I KNEW from release was right on line. If you have played it, you know there is only one real route- around the trees to the right then diving into the basket. There was no luck involved. It absolutely… Continue

Yesterday, I drove south to Toledo, Ohio to compete in the Holiday Hyzer 5 tournament
, run by Mark Kruse. It was probably about 24 degrees and windy when we started the first round of 21 holes, and at best 36 degrees (and not so windy) when we finished the second round. Brr.
Because I had read earlier in the week that the high was supposed to be in the 40s, I had not properly prepared. Actually, I had been thinking that I would not play again until the spring, so all of my… Continue

I seem to get pretty good distance on hyzer type shot's when needed but for the life of me I can't get an anhyzer throw to do anything but go "up, die off and fall to earth, well short of where I wanted it to go! I've seen many other RHBH players get a sweet anhyzer to not only go to the say the entry point in a area of trees but they can make it gently float a long ways into the sweet spot. Mine, yea sometimes I get it to go in the direction I want but it still heads up and dies back actually… Continue

A beautiful nice third Adventday here in Rüsselsheim Germany.
Sunshine, 0 degrees, almost no wind, no snow on the ground. Had just played 3 praxisrounds with different couple of discgolf-friends.
I feel good... YEAH! ;-)

I was organizing my Disc Golf Junkie gear in the online shop and have added long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, and Dri-Release shirts. Some of the items have gone from the shop, and some of the prices have been reduced. Nothing over $35, so come and check it out, buy some gear and show everyone your addicted to the coolest game on earth!

And it was a park-job on #1 short at my house, for the duece. I haven't thrown any disc since returning home. But, someone from here wanted to play in Ann Arbor today so we just finished half a round. I will begin working on tour statistics, it's nice being back to work, having made 622$ so far this week picking up small shifts.

This is by far the most common question we get. I wish we could get rid of the "Coming Winter 2007" tag at the end of the first trailer. Blissful optimism. However, things happen for a reason, and the movie will be better as a result. We want to do it right, and we've been self-financed so far. (People can invest for as little as $125 per unit by the way. :-))
We're almost finished with all of the shooting finally. A couple more interviews and that's it. We have well over 300 hours… Continue

i'm looking for someone to come out and film a round of disc golf, for something I am working on. I don't need a whole film production, just something decent enough to compare to the quality on most you tube videos.
Basically I would like someone to film the round, and then just give me the disc or memory card when we are done. If it films in mpeg or avi I can just edit it myself at home. I tried it with my camera to test the quality. The editing was… Continue

Today was a great day for some good ol' winter time disc golf. No wind, right under 30 degrees with just a few inches of snow. I decided a 9 hole would be sufficient for the day so I twisted one up, layered up, laced up and was out. Threw pretty well for a course I have only played a handful of times also had a real nice thumber shot on hole 3 over 100 ft. of O.B.and through some trees, landing about 10 ft from the hole. That had me PUMPED! The thumber is totally foreign to me. I usually cant… Continue

Well the Classic has come and gone. I didn't shoot as well as I would have liked but hey who am I to complain. After shooting a respectable 59 on the opening round on Sat morning it all went downhill from there. I will note that there where a lot of players that were not shooting well. All of that being said I would not have traded the time that I had ripping disc with 89 other people, enjoying a course that is only up for 3 days a year, and experiencing the awesome camaraderie that is a great… Continue
