There is a brand new Disc Golf Course in Walhalla, SC. The course is at Sertoma Field, across the creek from the playfields. The course is 18 with Innova baskets. No tee pads have been built yet but some holes have tee boxes.
The course is fairly short but has enough trouble where one bad throw could cost you in the end. Water comes into play on several holes and while the water isn't deep, the banks that lead to the creek are steep.
We had a Black Friday Doubles at the… Continue

"He claims to dream about swimming every night. When awake he visualizes going through his butterfly stroke as he walks, and when he gets to the door he reaches for it like it's the pool wall and he is about to make a turn. 'I find myself doing some unusual things that might make me appear like I belong in a mental institution,' he says."
-Milorad Cavic, Sports Illustrated.
This quote really caught my eye, because this is the way I feel about disc golf. I'll be walking… Continue

Its funny, I always joke about it, but im coming to the realisation that I'm addicted to buying plastic. I think its the feeling I get when I see that carton sitting on the table for me, knowing it contains new plastic for my collection. I've currently got two more orders on their way, I order off a bunch of different sellers so I can get a good variety of discs. At the moment, I'm getting heaps of putters, specifically black ones. I've ordered a Black Soft Banger-GT, Soft Magnet, Magnet, a… Continue

What a great weekend and tournament. Thank you to all who made it so great including Jonas, Trey and the guys from Innova, the CDGC and everyone else who participated. Great to meet and play with some great people and see old friends. I just wish I was not under the weather a little for both the Summer Sling and Charleston Classic but nothing was going to stop me from playing. Looking forward to Savannah for the Savannah in January,

I am writing this from my new laptop I got after 6 trips to 4 stores in 2 days. Why the **** do they advertise something if they can't even get it shipped in for 6 weeks?
Good thing I did more reasearching, because my PdaNet program for internet through the cellphone won't work on Vista-64 bit. So I ended up having to go with a slower, cheaper computer by neccessity. I got a 3GB Ram 250 GB HD, Dvd Burner, Media card reading, lightweight, slim new Toshiba for 500$. It's 3 times faster… Continue

I played the nine at Holmes after work today. I really wrenched my non-throwing shoulder while taking some practice throws. I guess that's what happens when you seldom play. My game was pretty ugly with a few good throws. I ended up with a +3. I parred all three gimme birdies, so that was disappointing. I also missed the mando on #3 and had to re-tee with a lie of 2. Then I had a good tee shot and putt to save a bogey. I seldom birdie that hole, but made it in two throws after missing the… Continue

Played Tom bass today with Rusty.. Beautiful day out, but I seemed to have a headwind on every hole... Birdshot Awards Ceremony is next Saturday, of course I had to miss too many tournaments to worry about anything remotely resembling an award, but it should be a fun doubles tourney. Shot a 61 on the Powell (sigh) but didn't get to finish the Wilmont due to lack of daylight.

I won the Oroville tournament yesterday. I had the best time and CHIP and his guys did such an awesome job, everything ran smooth and the flow of play was great, we never once got backed up on a hole or even had to wait for someone on another hole to throw. So even though it was not my first win, it was however, the one that meant the most. The one that I worked the hardest for. Someone once told me that you can only be taught so much, but it's up to you to apply the teachings. They're right,… Continue

I got called in to work already even after leaving yesterday not expecting much.
I made 185$ in less than 8 hours, which will go a ways towards a new laptop. Going in next week to see about a schedule..
We did not get around to Lake in The Woods due to not being able to get in.
No disc golf today..snowed a lot..

So in my last blog is discussed the pain i felt and the lost control of my sidearm.
Instead of being rash and giving up on my natural shot, i decided to analyze what I thought i was doing wrong. By just using basic physics I was able to discover that I was putting too much spin on my shots. So when I was trying to throw a s curve or an understable disc I was turning them over and not giving them enough height to fade back.
So I went back to the drawing board and tried to… Continue

I've been reflecting on my year ever since the fall ratings came out. I've improved my ratings by 20 points this year... I cashed in pro for the first time and made cash in all but one tournament. And to top it all off I'm the tenth highest rated player in Oregon now. Next year, onward and upward... I really think that I can make it to 1000 next year, but I have to do something I've never done with disc golf before... practice consistently!
