Resolution - 365+ rounds for the year (day 6, 1/6/08)

What a great day to play for January. 61 degrees. Snow melting. Little wind to make it interesting. I decided to play 3 rounds today to help run my totals up so when I can't play for a day I will be still OK. Started out at the DC course early in the AM. Shot a -2 for the course. Very muddy on our elevated tee on #6. Went to Ft Madison and played both their courses. Played a par round on the scenic course. Started to play a good round on the Pioneer Course until I came upon the front nine. Both… Continue

First Game of The Year

Got out today with a few of the usual suspects. Gary, Jeremy and Dan. Played Windflower. The temperature was about 40 and a lot of the snow is melting. Overall it was a nice day to get out. The course is in pretty good shape considering the recent weather. There are a few tree limbs down and a lot of little twigs. All this from the ice storm a few weeks ago. The pads are all covered in show and ice and we even had to search for them. All in all it was a great way to warm up for the Ice Bowl in… Continue

Easley Ice Bowl

I played the Easley Ice Bowl today and finished 2nd of 5 in rec division. I played so-so in the morning at +15 and I really blew up in the afternoon on the back 9 and was +21. So i threw a 144 for 36 holes. For some reason I usually play very poorly at Easley. I like the course, but I score very poorly.

Tournament at Mazerick Park

This was one of my worst days ever. I had not thrown this bad in a long time. I could not get comfortable with my grip and my shots kept going high. I had some easy putts that I screwed up. I was forced into playing the advanced division which ment I played from the two longer tee pads. What bothers me is that is only two holes yet my scores were bad all over the course. It was not a good day.

Resolution - 365+ rounds for the year (day 5, 1/5/08)

Weather has warmed up and snow is melting. No wind and partly sunny. Went to Dankwardt in Burlington and played 2 rounds there today. Had a few good holes and a couple of bogies. Ended up +1 after the first round. On the second round I corrected a few of my previous mistakes. I ended up par for that round. Played better today than I did this summer during the K9 Karnival. Finally getting used to my new driver that I got for Xmas from the wife. Doing what I want it to do. Working on getting my… Continue

Resolution - 365+ rounds for the year (day 3, 1/3/08)

Weather was 29 deg. in DC. Wind out of the south blowing a little bit. Seemed colder today than yesterday. Shot a +3 today. Wind had a little effect on the discs on the wide open long drives. Tracks from yesterday were blown full by the wind. Can't wait till the weekend. Balmy weather of 45 deg forecasted for Sat and Sun. Might be able to play in a hoodie.

Resolution - 365+ rounds for the year (day 2, 1/2/08)

Today I was able to get 2 rounds of golf in. Weather was 15 deg w/ little wind. First round I played was in Macomb. Threw a 4 over for the course. Not as much snow there as at home. Then I got back to DC and played a round on our course at the school. Played better there. Threw even par for the course. A few drifts knee high. Over dressed for the weather. I do remember the old saying that it is easier to take it off if you get warm than putting it on (if you don't have it) when you get cold.… Continue

New Years resolution - 365+ rounds of disc golf for the 2008 year (1/1/08).

Wanted to start resolution today. 1 round average per day or 365+ per year. 14 degrees w/ 6" of snow on the ground. Drifts up to my ***. Wind kept me from doing it. Try to squeeze 2 rounds in tomorrow. Wind is to let up a little tonight. I put 4 pictures on line to show how deep the drift was at my portable in my yard.

What's in the bag?

Lately I've been having a lot of success with carrying fewer discs(by my standards, anyhow!) I am a RHBH dominant thrower.

In a Revo Mini Bag:

174 ESP Predator - thumbers, forehand approaches, heavy headwinds

172 SOLF - Go-to distance driver for hyzers

172 SOLS - Go-to distance driver for straight shots and anhyzers

172 CE Teebird (L) - Control driver for tunnel shots, has a wee bit of fade at the end

172 Pro Leopard - For teeshots that need to finish dead… Continue

Gower Park

Coop and I played two rounds tonight with his nephew Ty. I was +3 and +2. When we finished we ran into Pat Husted and talked to him about tomorrow's Ice Bowl in Easley. I have lost 6 pounds since Monday on this diet.

Teeing off into the blogosphere

Well there it went...pretty similar to disc golf. It was short, it was in the fairway, it faded a bit early. I guess I will need an upshot to par this post when most bloggers would be putting. Ah, such is life.

Its Winter in these parts. The green wallpaper on this website will look familiar in about six months. Right now, the white space beneath the type is what I am seeing. Yeah, I am still throwing in the winter as I assume are most northern discers who visit this site. I…

The most brilliant thing you'll read today

Hudson Mills Metropark - considered by many the one of the top (and oldest) courses in the country - has implemented a pay-to-play model this year. $50 for an annual pass or $2 per round. Hudson Mills has two 24 hole courses, an activity center with snack bar, restrooms and vending machines. It is also the host to the Discraft Great Lakes Open. Easily the biggest and most prestigious tournament in Michigan. Basically it's about as good as it gets for a disc golf course, not just the course…

Lakewood

Played Lakewood for the first time today. Great course. I shot a respectable 52. Had a great round until the six on 12 long followed by a frustrated bogey on 13.Good warm up for this weekends kick off of the KOTS series.

Hopefully got the bagtags worked out-never could find anything to drill through the damn things though. I ended up using an epoxy blend and a little crafty work.Seem to be holding pretty well so far.

It is looking like a good turnout this weekend, hopefully… Continue

Welcome to Winter Golf....

Not much to blog about... just the frustration inevitable with winter field work. Stupid decision of the day, doing field work in a couple of inches of snow near dusk. I'm down a couple of distance drivers. I think I've got a pretty good bead on the Destroyer, and if I don't find it I have a backup waiting... but it is annoying. I'll be up early to slide my feet through the snow. The Wraith on the other hand... well, that's going to take some effort. It caught a wind gust BAD and took off clear… Continue
