On December 31, 1977, I was halfway through my first year in law school at the University of Michigan, and single again after an early first marriage that hadn't worked out. A friend, who had taken a couple of anthropology classes from me at Oakland University, invited me to his house for a small New Year's Eve party.
I got there early and we were chatting when he said, "Uh-oh, Terry, I just realized that everyone who is coming tonight is a couple. There won't be any single women." I… Continue

Had a little road trip to the Chicago area for some course play on Saturday...
Started off the morning with Jericho Lake Park
in Aurora. Beautiful course with short and long tees. Kind of wide open but with wind, anything was possible. I recommend taking a huk at this course if you are ever in the area.
In the afternoon we traveled to Eagle… Continue

Just after Christmas Shawn and I went to Squaw Valley in Tahoe for 4 days of snowboarding. Mid afternoon on day 1, I took a pretty good fall. I caught the heel side edge of my board which pulled me down backwards. I was wearing a helmet thankfully, but instinctively I put my hands down to catch myself. Instantly, I was nervous about the impact. I sat up and actually just sat on the slope for at least 5 minutes. I still had a significant amount that I had to traverse before I was at the bottom.… Continue

Every year I make at least 5 disc golf goals for myself. Going into 2007, mine were pretty steep I felt, however, I always try to make them something that I know I can do, however, something that will push me.
I have never and will never make my goal to win or to cash or anything like that. I feel that if I play to the best I can… Continue

Doubles is really a frustrating thing. When you're on, it doesn't matter. Well, unless you're absolutely on
to a sick level.... but it doesn't matter, usually, if you've got a weak partner. Some locals consider it taboo to call certain veterans of the community "weak" partners. Today I drew Paul Hawk, and he's one of my favorite draws. I have more fun playing with Hawk on my card than anybody else. But he is also a sub-850 player. He can have his days on the green, putting the disc… Continue

Conditions not too bad, some tees were pretty icy though. Footing a definite issue.
Josh, Tom, and Rich all beat me, but we all sucked pretty bad: scores were +6 to +9 from the front tees.
Well, playing about once a week through the winter so far won't do much for my game, but better than nothing.
Now, please check out the tracks by my band, Joint Chiefs, posted on my page.

Bolivar, OH-- My wife and I travelled to my home region of NE Ohio for my family's Christmas get to together. My brother Joey, brother-inlaw Mike, and I played three courses in three days. Thursday we played at the course in Lincoln Park in Massillon. Mike spotted Joey and I 8 strokes, and I ended up winning round 1 by a stroke. Friday we played… Continue

The year 2007 saw a slight decrease in the number of tournaments I was able to compete in but included the installation of another course in my area, running two tournaments, and my first disc golf vacation.
The year started with finishing up work on the Prairie Disc Golf Course in Thornton, Iowa. We got everything finished in time for the grand opening that was held on June 3. This fell on the same day as the Story City Skunk River Open that I had competed in last year. The grand… Continue

DISCLAIMER: This post is littered with sarcasm. For example, that
first paragraph just below this? Dripping with the whole sarcasm thing.
True story. Keep in mind that this is a Blog... It is a web log of my
own experiences. Hence the topic being what I know the best, me using
myself as a primary character and as the main example when I'm talking
Did you know that on the 8th day, God created me? True story. Just ask

The new year will be upon us shortly, and I'll be turning 50 shortly thereafter. Here are a few observations to help the youngsters along the way.
- 50 is NOT the new 30; it's the same old 50 its always been. The hair is gray, whats left of it anyway. The knees are shot and all my son's buddies insist on calling me "Mister G".
- The math even proves my point. I went to the doctor a month back, his prognosis... I am as…

What a sight. My friend emailed me a link to this site today and I have been on it now on and off for about 5 hours. Probably doing what most of you are doing. Checking everyone out, uploading photos, and trying to customize my page. This was a GREAT idea Terry. Thank you for making it.

Ben and I just finished our first round on this new course
. He beat me by 8 strokes, with a 65 to my 73 . . . and we played the Am pads! This course goes into my Top Ten - and it doesn't even have concrete tees yet.
Deis is a mix of open, semi-open, and woods, with tremendous elevation and very long holes. There are three tees for each hole, Rec, Am, and Pro, with Am and Pro combined on 2-3 holes. All of this is… Continue

That's the way to do it.. a mass teaching of PDGA rules to a billion youth.. well maybe not a billion, (well actually a billion would probably do it!)
By spreading a blanket of knowledge through the schools, PDGA rules teaches them all how to respect each other and the land. What kid doesn't love to adhere to game rules? So as more and more PE teachers begin to teach it in PE lessons, the PDGA rules act as a road map to a Nobel Peace prize.… Continue

What a great christmas this year brought. Although it did not include any discgolf, I did get a nine time roc for christmas and gave away 2 disc's to a 13 year old friend of mine who loves disc golf. I also have my trip to vegas and the memorial lined up!!! All in all, this was the best christmas, and they seem to be getting better and better. I am very Grateful. Continue

This year is just about in the books and it's been a crazy one. Just like the previous 3 or 4 years I enjoyed traveling to play disc golf as well as promoting it. There are some obvious highlights that come to mind that mix in with the same fun I have year after year at events.
Playing with my good buddy, Mike Schwieger, is always a blast and we started the year off right by repeating as champions for the Random Beaver Round Up event I host.… Continue
