Now in his early 20s, Oklahoma's Devan Owens has a lot of tournament experience for his age. He first competed in PDGA events in 2004, and was a Jr. World Champion the following year. Today he's a 1027-rated powerhouse who won an NT earlier this year and has a long and promising dg career ahead of him. Welcome to Team D.

My social experiment/Rise to the top of the disc golf ranks Cont.

Well, my time in Madison, WI is drawing to an end and boy what a time it was. I would first like to thank the entire disc golf community for being so warm and welcoming and for the oppurtunity to throw the best courses the area has to offer.  More specifically I would like to thank Jason Bullis and family for housing me and my dog while I experienced Madison. Mike at GLIDE, Mo, Jason Cox, Will Sitton, CJ, Mike, Ian, Brett and…

My social experiment/Rise to the top of the disc golf ranks

Hello. My name is Olas Ross. Before this goes too far allow me to get the pronounciation of my name straight. O-Lis is the easiest spelling to capture how it's pronounced. It's short for Nicholas, but let's just keep it simple, Olas. Clear? Sweet.

    I am a twenty something…

Doss, Hokom Sweep Final NT of 2011

Nate Doss is boss and Sarah Hokom is smokin! As the season winds down, Team D is steamrolling. Energized from his 3rd World Championship title last month, Nate Doss headed to Leicester, MA to win the year's final NT event by 3 shots. Fresh off her NT win in Pittsburgh, Sarah Hokom came from behind in the final round to notch her 3rd NT win on the season. Outstanding!

2011 Ace Race disc announced

This year's proto is unique and sweet, and we think you're going to love it!  It's the widest diameter putt and approach model Discraft has ever offered, so it can legally weigh in at a hefty 183 grams (subject to PDGA approval)... that's at least a full seven grams more than other putters!  The disc is obedient to its master and goes where you throw it, delivering directional precision and soft, flat landings.  The rim is beadless and feels great in your hand.  Think of it as a shorter,…

Mokena Big D Doubles Course Routing

I'm just transcribing my course routing notes and leaving them somewhere on the internet where they will be handy later.

Mokena Big D Course Guide

Any distances which vary from the tee sign were measured by wheel.  The only water o.b. is the pond near tournament central.  Any wet drains or creeks are casual: stand where it lands, or go straight back away from the basket until you are out of the water with no penalty, if you are taking that throw.  On 500+ foot holes,…

For The Love Of The Game, Quit Stepping Over Trash

I'll never forget the day I became a millionaire. It was the summer of 05' and like most days, I was engulfed in some research and development disecting the intricacies and inadequacies of the tomahawk putt. To me, the mere flight path of that hot candy plastic knifing thru the air upon release and then the metamorphisis that ensues that can only be summed up as the symphony created between the butterfly romancing the air, creating that perfect…

Soldier Springs Disc Golf Course.

After being turned down due to public access for the Deer Ridge course we set our sights on Soldier Springs.

We walked the 55 acres and started focusing on the 30 acres near the back of the property. We next designed a rough layout and played the course with a temporary basket. After that round we decided to make a few changes and redesigned four or five holes and played another round.

We still weren't a hundred percent happy with the flow and felt a couple holes could be…
