The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
After being turned down due to public access for the Deer Ridge course we set our sights on Soldier Springs.
We walked the 55 acres and started focusing on the 30 acres near the back of the property. We next designed a rough layout and played the course with a temporary basket. After that round we decided to make a few changes and redesigned four or five holes and played another round.
We still weren't a hundred percent happy with the flow and felt a couple holes could be…Continue
so I am entered in rec again. my rating hasn't been updated since my last tournament. Which kinda sucks since I'm sure it went down.
and I dont want the other players in the rec field to see my rating and think I am a bagger.
on the other hand.. I am ready for this weekend and am hopeful for a top 5 finish.
If I dont do that well at least I am going to seriously consider dropping my PDGA membership next year and only entering 1 or 2…Continue

I would like to start a women's league in Washtenaw county, primarily in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti. I don't know the first thing about running a league but I'm determined to get one going. I love playing with my guy friends but I feel like they're on a completely different level than me...well, they are, they got 10 years on me! It would be nice to relate to another female disc golfer and to learn some strategies that are better suited for our bodies.
If you have any words of…Continue

Life is good. I've been throwing since last week Thursday. I'm 100% again but I must remember to keep stretching before and after.
In honor of our vets, Essential Discs ran a tournament called The Freedom Memorial last year on Memorial Day. There was a small showing but enough to make it worth an annual event. In addition, As a Thank You; We are cutting all Veteran entry fees by half to give back to those that have given us so much.
Last Year we held it in Carrboro, NC at Anderson Park.
This year it will be at Fort Custer Recreation Area in Augusta, MI (Battle Creek area)

I'm taking donations to fund my trip to Pro Worlds 2011 in beautiful Santa Cruz, CA.
This is going to be an expensive trip, but I got my registration in just in the nick of time & I'm committed.
What an exciting opportunity this is! I've been playing for 10 years, just waiting on my game to catch up with my…Continue

So after my last post, we unexpectedly spent the weekend cleaning out a property my parents were selling. No practice. Then, two days without practice turned into four, then a week...
Maybe I should alter my resolve to be "I will practice at least once a week" - I think that is more approachable at this point in my life.
But now, to go clean up the supper dishes, bathe the 18 month old, and squeeze in a load of laundry before bedtime.

I haven't played a full round of disc since Thursday (six days ago!). I hurt. The pain starts in my lower left back and runs through my hip. I've been hobbling and wincing in pain, no joke. I'm not sure if the pain is from disc golf or from unloading freight trucks at work. Also, I'm not sure if I'm seriously hurt because I don't have health insurance or extra cash to visit a clinic. My friends told me to sit out and I did until yesterday that is. The weather was phenomenal, I had to get…Continue
Well, when everything works together, I can "drive" 150 feet (usually with a Cobra). I think I threw almost 180' with a Dragon yesterday.
Now, to be able to do that consistently...
I've decided to ignore the power grip for awhile, and just use my version of the fan grip. While trying to throw further, I feel like I've lost control of where the disc is aiming.
Too many things to remember! Rotate, keep the disc level, let my right foot pivot, start…Continue

This topic is short and sweet.
I have played Disc Golf and most of the time, it is quiet.
Yes there is talking in between throws, but besides that, it is quiet.
I created a Disc Golf Cart, and I plan on attaching a couple of small speakers, and use a MP3 player.
I know that I will more than likely only use it during Recreational play and not tournaments.
So, This blog can be used to your favorite musical artist, songs etc.
I do not know how…Continue
I've been trying to hit the course everyday, it doesn't matter if it's windy, raining, day or night. So far I've been doing a pretty good job keeping up. If I don't practice at least once a day in some way, I'm afraid I'll forget all that I've been learning.I'll have the hand jitters and other with drawl symptoms if I'm not out there, lol. Practice makes perfect, right?
Yesterday, I got home around 8pm, changed my shoes, put on a rain coat, grabbed my Ipod, some green, and…Continue
I shoot HD short films while playing a round. I am unobtrusive (camera on tripod) and care about my play, but love to capture the essence of a course and people I'm playing with. check out 5 shorts (5 min) at vimeo.com/morales

I'm at work right now. I should be working, right? Instead I'm sitting here being upset that I can't practice even though it's raining and hailing. The weather doesn't bother me. When you go hiking in the mountains for over a week, you learn to get over nature's mood swings.
I've known about disc golf for many years but was nervous about putting myself out there because I was afraid I'd be awful. Also, I'm a perfectionist (I can't help that) and I don't like losing...no one…Continue
