Ha!

So after my last post, we unexpectedly spent the weekend cleaning out a property my parents were selling.  No practice.  Then, two days without practice turned into four, then a week...

Maybe I should alter my resolve to be "I will practice at least once a week" - I think that is more approachable at this point in my life.

But now, to go clean up the supper dishes, bathe the 18 month old, and squeeze in a load of laundry before bedtime.

Boo

I haven't played a full round of disc since Thursday (six days ago!). I hurt. The pain starts in my lower left back and runs through my hip. I've been hobbling and wincing in pain, no joke. I'm not sure if the pain is from disc golf or from unloading freight trucks at work. Also, I'm not sure if I'm seriously hurt because I don't have health insurance or extra cash to visit a clinic. My friends told me to sit out  and I did until yesterday that is. The weather was phenomenal, I had to get…

Practice, Day 1

Well, when everything works together, I can "drive" 150 feet (usually with a Cobra).  I think I threw almost 180' with a Dragon yesterday.

Now, to be able to do that consistently...

I've decided to ignore the power grip for awhile, and just use my version of the fan grip.  While trying to throw further, I feel like I've lost control of where the disc is aiming.

Too many things to remember!  Rotate, keep the disc level, let my right foot pivot, start…

Music...............

This topic is short and sweet.

I have played Disc Golf and most of the time, it is quiet.

Yes there is talking in between throws, but besides that, it is quiet.

I created a Disc Golf Cart, and I plan on attaching a couple of small speakers, and use a MP3 player.

I know that I will more than likely only use it during Recreational play and not tournaments.

So, This blog can be used to your favorite musical artist, songs etc.

I do not know how…

GO SLOW.

I slowed up my approach and am throwing farther and straighter.Just the x-step but shorter steps and really concerating more about reaching back farhter and getting a good snap on the disc.

Practice Makes Perfect

I've been trying to hit the course everyday, it doesn't matter if it's windy, raining, day or night. So far I've been doing a pretty good job keeping up. If I don't practice at least once a day in some way, I'm afraid I'll forget all that I've been learning.I'll have the hand jitters and other with drawl symptoms if I'm not out there, lol. Practice makes perfect, right?

Yesterday, I got home around 8pm, changed my shoes, put on a rain coat, grabbed my Ipod, some green, and…

Obssessed

I'm at work right now. I should be working, right? Instead I'm sitting here being upset that I can't practice even though it's raining and hailing. The weather doesn't bother me. When you go hiking in the mountains for over a week, you learn to get over nature's mood swings.

I've known about disc golf for many years but was nervous about putting myself out there because I was afraid I'd be awful. Also, I'm a perfectionist (I can't help that) and I don't like losing...no one…

4 year old mistake

December 2007 I was at the top of my disc golf career. I placed second in a tournament over great pros and was firing on all cylinders. Then a new relationship happened. I didnt play much the following year until it ended.

Since then, I have been in a driving slump. In early january 2011 I also experienced a putting slump. HERES HOW I FIXED MY SLUMP: I was lowering disc in my back swing. As a result, the disc was pulling around my body and spraying out of my hand. common…

The PDGA Barf Format

Are you a PDGA amateur who is tired of high entry fees and craptastic plastic payouts?  Are you a PDGA pro who competes in age or gender restricted pro divisions who is not competitive in MPO?  Do you play tournaments in south-eastern Michigan?  If you answered "yes" to two of those questions, keep reading.

In the earliest years of this millenium I used to run tournaments in Michigan.  When my brother wanted to start running tournaments in Illinois I cut back to doing nothing…

Dilemmas

So, it's official, I earned an invite to this year's Amateur Championship in MIchigan.  Dream come true, prestigious tourney in my home state (I currently live in Alaska).  I can fly down, visit with family and friends while playing in a great tourney.  But, of course, my parents fly in to Anchorage on June 10th.  I've already decided to stay here to visit with my parents on their vacation, but I will admit to thinking about it for a couple of days.  I think I'm cursed for big tourneys.  I…

GM View of Memorial

This was my first ever pdga event in the States.

It was enjoyable but could have been better in a couple of areas.

As an am senior grandmaster i found it kind of dumb that i had to tee off at 7:30am three days in a row.  I never play dg before 11am, my old body doesn't easily allow it. From the 3 Palms it was a1hr run out there .... 6:30 plus a half hour to get up makes it a 6am start to play dg, just plain nuts from my point of view.  get the young guys up to play early ...…
