Are you a PDGA amateur who is tired of high entry fees and craptastic plastic payouts? Are you a PDGA pro who competes in age or gender restricted pro divisions who is not competitive in MPO? Do you play tournaments in south-eastern Michigan? If you answered "yes" to two of those questions, keep reading.
In the earliest years of this millenium I used to run tournaments in Michigan. When my brother wanted to start running tournaments in Illinois I cut back to doing nothing… Continue

So, it's official, I earned an invite to this year's Amateur Championship in MIchigan. Dream come true, prestigious tourney in my home state (I currently live in Alaska). I can fly down, visit with family and friends while playing in a great tourney. But, of course, my parents fly in to Anchorage on June 10th. I've already decided to stay here to visit with my parents on their vacation, but I will admit to thinking about it for a couple of days. I think I'm cursed for big tourneys. I… Continue

This was my first ever pdga event in the States.
It was enjoyable but could have been better in a couple of areas.
As an am senior grandmaster i found it kind of dumb that i had to tee off at 7:30am three days in a row. I never play dg before 11am, my old body doesn't easily allow it. From the 3 Palms it was a1hr run out there .... 6:30 plus a half hour to get up makes it a 6am start to play dg, just plain nuts from my point of view. get the young guys up to play early ...… Continue

The people who worried about me have a report.
An email arrived from the family of the wife yesterday.
All families lived.
I cannot yet know others.
It was long one week.
More than 10,000 people, there is the person who does not understand safety.
In the refuge place, it snows.
I pray for many people being saved as soon as possible.
I thank all of you!

Team D's Paige Pierce of Plano, Texas wins the PDGA Female Rookie of the Year: With a dominating performance in 2010, Paige pretty much had the honor wrapped up by Worlds. Her stats were so good for her pro rookie season that she just missed making it as one of the top seven finalists for the Female Player of the Year award.
The award will be presented in August at Pro Worlds in Santa Cruz. Congrats!…

How many times has any of the following happened to you?
* You miss badly on a tricky and/or risky putt, and almost immediately after it leaves your hand you realize that although you thought you had decided to go for it, the disc comes out weak and unsure- maybe wobbling more than usual and way too low.
* You hit a tree right after you made not hitting the tree your primary focus
* You catch yourself thinking about your overall score, and the impact your last throw had or… Continue

just finished my first ice bowl, not to mention my first club event. What a blast and can't wait to the regular season.
Although after 30 holes of going through almost 3 ft of snow it was a challenging day.

When I began playing disc golf more than 20 years ago, all discs were basically the same in terms of material. They were all plastic, and they were pretty much all the type of plastic we now refer to as DX (Innova's term) or Pro-D (Discraft's). Yet despite the fact that the market for golf discs is now inundated with a continual flood of new models - most available in at least
three grades of plastic - one thing has remained constant: They've always been made from plastic. Until… Continue

Started the perfect putt 360 with a new pair of soft warlocks
day 1 -123

day 4 -133 used new grip both rounds ,and temp was below freezing ,feel i can do better
day 5 -123 bad round new grip isn't working well and putters seem to overstable
day 6- first round was a 28 I started my 2nd round then quit
day 7-I took the time to… Continue

Every now and then I substitute my thrice-weekly 3-5 mile run with a bit of speed golf. At Black Mouse DGC, a short but very mountainous track, it's a great workout. My habit there, if time allows, is to play the course twice and aim for a time of less than an hour. Today I finished the first round in 26:26, and the the entire 36 holes in 53:05. If my math is correct, that means that the second 18 holes took 13 seconds longer… Continue

I've always wondered, if I win my State tournament (South Dakota), how much closer does that get me to becoming a pro? How much do the Pros make? Can they live off of disc golfing alone? What do I have to do to make it big time, other than simply win?

For some time now, the majority of the posts on this blog have leaned towards instructions, course reviews, and equipment reviews, and away from the author's personal experiences in the sport. This has plenty to do with my no longer competing at the higher levels, but I've got a couple tidbits to share that have nothing to do with my plummeted player rating and disappearance from the sanctioned tournament scene.Disc Golf Class at Cabrillo College

Wordle.net is a fun site. It creates a visual picture of words based on the words you input or from a url that you supply. It has to be a site or address that has RSS support. I did this one with discgolfer.ning.com as the address.
It doesn't seem to allow you to save the image so I'll just post the link.
