Yesterday, I drove south to Toledo, Ohio to compete in the Holiday Hyzer 5 tournament
, run by Mark Kruse. It was probably about 24 degrees and windy when we started the first round of 21 holes, and at best 36 degrees (and not so windy) when we finished the second round. Brr.
Because I had read earlier in the week that the high was supposed to be in the 40s, I had not properly prepared. Actually, I had been thinking that I would not play again until the spring, so all of my… Continue

I got to La Mirada California a day before the tournament, got a little practice in, i shot -6 on the front 18.
The first day of the tournament, i did HORRID. The only good expierance i had on the bottom card was meeting Evan, haha.
Although i had fun, I was upset about my play, i know I'm better than what I did out there.
anyway, in the ring of fire, I was the last person to throw my disc, and the only one to score that time, so that was pretty sweet.

Love playing in the wind? Well, you missed one heck of a windy [1st] round at the 2008 CO State Championships. I can honestly say I have never played a windier tournament round of golf. To top that off, the course at Palisade River Bend Park was lined and dotted with OB that made the locals cringe. It was so windy that branches the size of trees were ripped from the old cottonwoods along the course. Tournament directors postponed the second round on Saturday to be played on Sunday when more… Continue

I'm going to throw this out there right away. I HATE the term "The Great Shuffle". Now, I know what you are thinking. "Jon, with everything else in the world going on why would you worry yourself with the semantics of "The Great Shuffle"? Well, it's simple really. I have no solution for the problems in Georgia (the country, not the state...and let me tell you when I first heard that Russia was invading Georgia, my first thought was "How did they get past S. Carolina?") or Iraq or the economy or… Continue

I have been to three PDGA Worlds but never as a player. In 2000 I caddied for Bruce. In 2004 Becky and I were co-TDs of the jr boys pool. In 2007 I took a couple of days off from work and took pictures.
I'm sure it's an absolute blast playing in Worlds, but it is also pretty fun to just hang out at Worlds and watch and have fun. Having an interest in the 2008 Worlds but not being able to attend is a little bit like being offered a caffeine free, diet Coke. It may say "Coca-Cola" on… Continue

All of today's Am scoring is here
I played a pretty terrible round at Oshtemo, figuring by the time I was done it was about 880-rated. However, it turned out to be rated 914 (still not good) and enough to tie me for first in the Am Senior Grand Master group (with Chuck Hornsby, who I figured I would be seeing a lot of). I had three (3) putts hit metal and roll away, two for bogies and a… Continue

Colorado is well known for it's surprising weather changes ... We found out just how dramatically it can change last weekend, at the beginning of the 2008 Colorado Open, May 10-11.
I woke up, got my stuff together and prepared for the short drive to the course. It's great to be at home and only have a 15 minute drive to get to the tournament. I did my warm up, and then some putting in the yard. The sun was out, and there were only a few fluffy clouds floating in the sky. After my… Continue

So this weekend summer decided to make its entré in Denmark, thereby giving us great weather during the annual Kokkedal Open
. Kokkedal Open was this years second tournament on the Danish National Tour and a PDGA EuroChallenge C-tier.

So, this weekend the Copenhagen Open 2008
was played, this year as a PDGA EuroTour A-tier. A generous contribution form the tournament's main sponsor, WellWare, made it possible to invite David Felberg, which in turn probably helped sparked the interest in playing the tournament among the Euro pros even more.
I didn't have the time to be there on Saturday, so instead of playing I was part of the staff arranging the tournament in the days leading… Continue

I have always had high expectations for my golf. These expectations have brought me quickly into the ranks of the advanced women, but at times, they've also managed to steal my entire focus away from having fun.
I am not a very good goal-setter. Thanks to the PDGA, however, it's easy for me examine my scores, track and graph them and my round ratings, and generally use it as another tool to assess my progress. Disc golf has helped me to rediscover the joy of achieving personal… Continue

A big thank you goes out to Bill Bullington and the Cotton pickin flyers for accomadating some new players that me and my buddy dylan brought over to mini tourney today. I realized something about young new players. They love to buy plastic. Lots of it. Bags, baskets. There thirst for knowledge and disc instruction is amazing!
They listen better than some stubborn older beginners. Tips fly out the other ear most of the time. I only give advice when asked. Im not one of those overload you… Continue
