Soldier Springs Disc Golf Course.

After being turned down due to public access for the Deer Ridge course we set our sights on Soldier Springs.

We walked the 55 acres and started focusing on the 30 acres near the back of the property. We next designed a rough layout and played the course with a temporary basket. After that round we decided to make a few changes and redesigned four or five holes and played another round.

Mary Beth Doyle Park (was 'Brown Park) and Wetland Preserve Redesign

We had another walk-thru this evening and I think we have settled on at least a rough sketch of the 18 holes—long tees, anyway. It's not clear to me how well people will be able to view the image I am posting here, but my fingers are crossed.

This park was redone to change the water flow and flood control functionalities for Washtenaw County. The disc golf course was taken out two and a half years ago and may get put in this fall, probably next spring. We lost some holes to the… Continue

A Brief Visit to Waterloo State Recreation Area (Big Portage Lake Unit Course, Under Construction)

Saturday, after Sheila headed to Hudson Mills for the Femillz tourney, our nephew, Andy, and I drove to the site of this new disc golf course currently being constructed. My intent was to see what the first nine holes looked like, now that rough clearing had been done, and to try to lay out a few more holes for the park staff to do further work on.

Remaking Brown Park: Part 1

We are engaged in redesign of a local course and I thought it might be nice to share a series of blog posts about it.

Brown Park was a near-downtown Ann Arbor city park with 18 holes with a large and devoted following of disc golfers.
