There are two extremely important concepts I have finally gotten my head around about disc golf. One is understanding the power zone and the second is to throwing the disc around the pivot point. While I could sit here and explain these concepts in the detail, it would be much easier for me to direct you to the resources I used to better understand the concepts.
These videos are from a gentleman named Bradly Walker over at the discgolfreview.com forums. He does a good job… Continue

Field practice has been okay lately. Not great. Okay. I'm maxing out between 360 and 370 although my main field is unuseable due to reseeding and fertilizing. My aim is a bit less wonky than it's been over the last few months. I'm focusing more on a downfield target or line to hit so that's helped a bit. I'm still not feeling the big snap or effortless quality I was back in October but I'm working more consciously on that.
As to round play. I'm playing 2-3 rounds a week at a random… Continue

I played a casual round with my wife and some friends yesterday and managed to make all of my putts within 50'. I was a pretty happy disc golfer! Most importantly I had a really great time. It was about enjoying the weather and having good times. While I always love playing disc golf, here lately its a been a bit more serious than normal as I have been devoting a lot of time and focus into really developing my disc golf skill set.
In about an hour I will be heading back out to the… Continue

To all of you wonderful Disc golf friends of Dusan Nedelko - I wish I could thank you each individually for the kind words you have posted following Dusan's death. As much as our family is doing our best to deal with the tragic loss, I feel that it is very important to channel our energies to making sure that Dusan's dream of introducing disc golf to the world - and especially to children- will continue. I am personally devoting as much time and… Continue

Well, I suppose you could call this a blog series of sorts that I hope to keep up as I progress through my hopeful disc golf "career."
It was late one night in early January 2010, and I could not sleep. I had been having problems with insomnia, depression, apathy, and avolition (or, a loss of willpower and such) for quite some time now. I mainly attributed these things to a lack of activity (i.e. actually getting out and moving). This night I got bored… Continue

A couple months ago my youngest got into my bag and pulled all my discs out and scattered them all around the house. Well today while searching for a missing cookie sheet I found 1 of the 2 discs that I couldn't find. I was getting ready to make some candies and relized I needed anothet cookie sheet to let them cool on. So knowing that at one time I had 3 I pulled out the drawer under my stove that I store them in and found 3 more cookie sheets 1 was my lost 1 and 2 more that were from the… Continue

In England, it's tea time. For disc golfers it's tee time. In my case, it's tee time this weekend in Dexter, for the annual women's tournament.
Formerly called Femillz, this weekend, Saturday August 8, Beauty and the Beasts will once again give us women discers a chance to compete and have an incredible amount of fun.
This is a shout out to all female players all over Michigan. Come one, come all, to the only other event (besides Disc Girls Gone Wild) custom made for… Continue

I ran a round at DeLa yesterday, in exactly the 1:15 time I was aiming for. The main goal of staying on the fairway was achieved, and the +2 overall score wasn't great, but wasn't horrible for a running round. The score is mostly attributable to the hospitality of the threesome I encountered on the third hole. Sure, I was -1 after my birdie on 3, and -2 after another birdie on hole 5, but that's as low as I got.
Scores aside, though, the one thing that caused me to think in depth was… Continue

I would like to thank all my friends and family for thier support during my recovery from a pretty severe fall that could have been alot worse than it was. For those who do not know, I fell 12 feet out of a tree I was trimming on the Beaver Creek Mini Disc Golf Course on March 30,2009. Yes I also had a running chainsaw in my hand at the time. On the way down, I threw the chainsaw, Hit my ladder, hit the side bed of my truck and landed on my left side with a pretty good thump. I had the wind… Continue
