In honor of our vets, Essential Discs ran a tournament called The Freedom Memorial last year on Memorial Day.  There was a small showing but enough to make it worth an annual event.  In addition, As a Thank You; We are cutting all Veteran entry fees by half to give back to those that have given us so much.  

 

Last Year we held it in Carrboro, NC at Anderson Park.

This year it will be at Fort Custer Recreation Area in Augusta, MI (Battle Creek area)

For Christmas Eve I played 3 putter rounds at the local pitch and putt.  Most people who play at my home course make fun of it but in reality they just do not appreciate the history of the location.  Located on the east side of Monroe, LA, it is one of a few remaining object courses made for frisbees back in the 60's.  The "baskets" are somewhat large concrete "cups" in the ground with most shots ranging from 180-245 feet.  With an exception of a few younger cats like myself, the course is…

Febuary 11th and 68 degrees in Pennsylvania! Awesome! Merrill and Juddy Crink were actually wearing shorts and t-shirts. We were playing the Stretch R Out format, par 60 at Mushroom Manor Mini Disc GC in Lancaster. Merrill started his round with three O.B.s in a row! I haven't played since shortly before the first snowfall here in central Wisconsin. Now, I know a lot of you brave the arctic temperatures and potential frostbite to keep that plastic flying. It wasn't suppose to snow today but 2 1/2 inches fell anyway. Seems to be the winter way around south central PA. Lancaster winter weather seems to be on the edge of lots of snow or nothing but slush and muck! Today was snow. You've got to love to play disc golf while it's snowing. Well, like always, something good to talk about happens at Mushroom Manor Mini Disc Golf Course, and last night was no exception. It was cold, bitter cold. The temperature was 21 degrees with a wind chill of ZERO. Today is going to be the beginning of a year long blog descibing and sharing the fun and excitement of mini disc golf. Tonight is the first Mushroom Manor Monthly of the year. The temps at tee time will be in the low 20s. A dusting of snow fell overnight. I am sure all players will be serious about their score since it is a fresh start to the new year. Seems like after about a month of play I have hit a wall, I have read that this happens but I guess that this is the first time that I have ever noticed it in the time I have been playing. The more that I read about this happening the more that I have come to the conclusion that the only way to get through this is just keep playing. Yesterday we took the first steps to move the 2008 SVO forward. We sent in the sanctioning agreeement and paid for the different fees. Now comes the fun part of gathering sponsors and getting everything prepared. Currently we have 5 teesign sponsors, so if you want to sponsor a sign let me know ASAP.
