I bought my dad a bag and discs for xmas as an attempt to really get my dad out and play. All he does is hear about what I do when he asks me. I ended up buying him a Pro Leopard, Star TL, SS-Voodoo, Pro Starfire, FLX Buzzz, and a Rattler. I've noticed that he LOVES the FLX Buzzz and mainly just the plastic because of grip and feel. This place is just a 9 hole course that we play over and over. It is where most of the recreational golfers to go to play. This course is just mostly upshots, every single hole can be reached by your drive. Anything more than a putter or midrange disc is overkill. What is funny about it, is that you can go from shooting 9 down to shooting plus 5. There are some gotchas about it than can turn you upside down if you mess up on your drive. I set out to win this tourney and get under 200 and I didn't reach that goal. I ended up getting second and shooting 202 for three 1/2 rounds. Had good competition with Chris and Brian as we were all really close thru out the tourney. Chris had an unfortunate hand issue that caused him to DNF which left myself and Brian to duke it out for first place. Chris shot a 54 the first round, I shot a 57 and so did Brian. Had league there this Saturday and had fun, we ended up playing 36 holes instead of the normal 18. It is a decent drive out to Girdwood and everyone agreed upon, so it seemed logical to do so anyway. First round I shot -2 with only one bogey and the second round I shot -4 with one bogey. Overall I was happy with my play, but I was really just trying to play without getting a bogey at all. I guess one is better than two...

Played 54 holes at Peters Creek yesterday and played against one of the local pros and some guys from the advanced division. I came close to winning but threw too many bogies to put myself out: -10 to -3. We were at -7 to -6 (me) early in the 2nd round but then I faded. It wasn't that I choked, I just had some bad shots that put me in spots that were hard to get out of...Peters Creek is extremely wooded and like a prison for those that have never played it.

Today had pretty fair weather, it was cloudy, sprinkled some, and really light wind. Ate a good breakfast for the the long day ahead. It gook 5 of us over 4 hours to get thru all the pro tees in the third round. By the time we got back we only 35mins to go get food (thanx David), when it is supposed to be an hour after the last card. I mean it can take 15 mins just to get out of the park to a main road, cops patrol the place, the speed limit is 25mph, you always see bicyclists and runners on… Continue

I got over being really sick yesterday and not sleeping well and getting hardly any sleep. When I showed up for registration it looked like death warmed over. The day started out with a decent down pour of freezing rain - my hands were damn near frozen. It didn't take long to warm up throwing drives, upshots, and putting. I had to bust out the raincoat and umbrella just to help keep dry. About half way thru the round the rain let up and it was partly cloudy. After the first round the sun popped… Continue

We had a really great turnout that evening and a lot of people brought it. Overall this was the best scoring night of season since I started attending. Several groups shot into the negative: -7, -6, two at -5, Luke and I shot -4 (left 5 birdies), -3, and two at -2. It was a hell of doubles night. Usually -3 or -4 wins it. Last week there was a -8 and a -6 that took 1st and 2nd place. Shooting over -4 or -5 in doubles from the AM tees is a pretty good score for a lot of us out… Continue

I hit my 3rd ace ever today on hole 3 at West Chester. Earlier this month I hit my first two ever on 9-10-09: hole 18 @ Peters Creek and hole 14 at Kincaid (AM tee pin A)

Just got back from this course recently and it was tough. I got thouroughly pissed off a couple of times as things obviously didn't go right. A lot of trees in the rain forest and tons of high speed wind and rain in the wide open holes. I learned a lot about stability of discs relative to wind and how to play it. This was a tough and frustrating lesson for several of us as far as I could tell. As much as I got mad and bitched about it, I wouldn't go change it as they were important lessons that… Continue
