SABATTUS!!

Beatz bet me a disc this course(s) would make it into my top 5, he lost that bet. They are great, top 25 maybe, not bad out of 460+.

Round one was on the "Hawk" course. When you pull in, you are blown back by the sight of a huge basket fountain sign, a full size clubhouse/pro shop, tees and baskets everywhere, etc..

Thanks guys at Sabattus for the hat and disc. You can't miss this place if you come to Maine.

Not to forget I played the second round with Keiran ____ who was on my… Continue

Main(e) Disc Golf

..is way better than you'd think and worth the small fees on every course!

So far there's almost nothing bad about disc golf here, I guess you get what you pay for. The least liked course is actually the one for the tournament, and it was in better condition than most courses back home.

Today I played 4 courses, between 8am and 3pm, there are plenty in this small region.

Woke up early to play Dragan Field in Auburn, ME with Josh

Dragan Field: I shot… Continue

Much thanks to give today

First to Mother Nature for waiting to rain until I got into my car after the first round, then stopping when I teed off the next round after only raining for a few minutes, and for stopping the hail after the 6th hole on round #3.

Next to all who have helped me out so far (Grandparents, Solt, Dave Townsend, Beatz, guides on my rounds, the people at the 2 not yet open courses, the guys at D'N'D for the sticker, and the guy at Beaver Brooks for the sweet lightning disc, and anyone… Continue

Beatz/Pay to Play/Horrific car accident

Today began arriving at Pleasant Hill with Dave Townsend (thanks for the bed) and waiting for Beatz to play a round. I finally got online for a moment and rushed some stuff online. No Sprint-Speed here, still not tonight, had to pay for internet access right now can't make a call not even roaming.

Scarborough (Scahhhhhhbouhhhhoogh), ME: Pleasant Hills Gold+Silver (2)
: I played with Beatz, starting before the course exploded and got packed for the rest of the day. The Gold… Continue

Rumble @ The Run

I have had NO sprint signal for at least a day (not a huge surprise, could barely get a satellite signal around here).

Newport, NH- Pinnacle: This is a new course, a work in progress, but it is very playable and clean much work has been put into it already. It is very tough, I shot a 57. Good design, no 'crazy' or irregular holes, tight woods on some steep hills with lots of rocks and creeks. The tees are rough but they are working on them one by one, and the signage is good.… Continue

Camping @ Hyzer Creek

I am camping tonight, as it says it is free and I need to save up. Some rain later maybe but it's nice now, if not extremely buggy.

I met up with Marc McGarity* from DGRUS today for 2 rounds. We began at Jamesville Beach in Jamesville, NY: It is pretty open, just 2 woods holes and several near woods. Enough trees to add challenge along with wind and length. Two bomber holes. Scenic and relatively easy, shot -5, and there's no danger. Has a 100' hole. Great pads and has… Continue

'Scuse I think they call it

I made it over to Syracuse today after 3 rounds in Rochester, 2 with my guide Ryan who designed one of the courses (he's lucky he did it well).

Rochester- Sweden DGC: Now this course is just rough and nasty. Hole #1 took over 10 minutes to play, had to walk 75% of the fairway to see the pin. It is lightning bolt shaped, 2 twists (discs don't fly that way), surrounded by rough worse than Hudson Mills Monster, and I had to sacrifice my putter and firebird to my ivy pocket after… Continue

Memories...

I began at Baker Farm (Chili) in Rochester It DOES NOT ADD to my list since I have played it b4. Haven't been there sine 1999 pro worlds. It was so great to play that course again after so long, longest ever gone between rounds on a course. It is still beautiful and amazing. Well manicured grassy fairways studded with all types of trees and obstacles. Not particularly challenging, took 2 4's and 7 2's, no 5's. Hit cage on 911 on the putt for 3! Many 300-400' foot duecable holes requiring… Continue

No Bogeys

In the past 72 holes, I got just one 4.

Began the day in Grand Island, NY at Beaver Island DGC: This course is awesome. Well marked, concrete tees (for the middle white tees, which I played), fresh mown grass, well kept. The wind was intense, blew my hat off several times, made it hard to putt. Flipped a star max over on the second hole!

I got zero 4's here, even with 6-8 holes well over 400'. It's relatively open so if you throw well it's hard to get a 4 from middle… Continue

Going to Ellison in Rochester NY right now..4:30-5:00pm ish Sunday May 11th

I am headed to Ellison for the final round of the day. I have already played it, nearly 9 years ago, so it won't add to my list but it will be the longest I have ever gone between rounds on a course, so I am really looking forward to it. Hope to see someone out there.

Niagara area disc golf is good

I played 4 courses in the Buffalo, NY area today, all run by a Niagara area club. They are all in decent to great shape, mostly well marked and easy to play.

I was en route to Farnham, when my gps said I was in Orchard Lake, so I stopped and re-programmed it to play Orchard Lake (Chestnut Ridge) first. This course is INSANELY tight from the blue-long tees. Many shots have no line, throw a putter then a putter on 300' holes. The other tees were more realistic and made a great course.… Continue

New York

Well I began in PA at Prompton Dam DGC in Prompton. It is very scenic, on a slope leading down toward the lake at the edge of a dam. Mowed grassy fairways, no 'woods' holes just some pins tucked into the woods. It is very long, and there are 2 sets of pins per hole both in the ground. The yellow pins are more realistic, the original layout I suppose it is (tee signs all gone temporaily for the re-do). The red baskets make it a ton of 350-500' holes. I am a big-arm sorta, but to me the red… Continue

disc-la(i)mer

I pulled over into a New York welcome center to write this on the way to the course in Corning.

First off, if you don't like my review, don't read it. I didn't do this to write reviews, I was asked to. This was planned 3 years ago, this site has been around for 4 months.

Second, as I have stated several times- I appreciate (extremely) the hard work and dedication people all over the country put into getting courses installed. I know what it takes. Without them we wouldn't have this… Continue

Winning dubs

Woke up at 9am to look out the window and see it pouring rain, everything soaking wet. I headed to play Yetter park in East Strousburg pa. It says in the guide it is 75% complete as of 10/06, so I figure it's good to go as of now, right? No.

It is in miserable condition, the local in charge of the course apparently got Lyme disease and has been unable to work on it (hope he's ok) so it is extremely overgrown, and was never fully cut out anyway. It's like a jungle, there are… Continue

All good

All the courses played today were good. Rare.

Starting with Little Lehigh in Allentown: Great course. Mostly 3's, but challenging and long and open. The trees craft shots, and it has elevation and water in play. Poor rubber/carpet tee pads. Absolutely no signage, I spent well over an hour trying to find the holes. Beginning with finding hole #5, which took 20 minutes. It is a 1,000 ft walk over a road. Then hole #10 or was it #11 i don't think I ever found, after walking half a mile… Continue

ACEEEE!! and other important stuff to get out there

I got my first trip ace, first of 2008 and first since september 14th, finally.

Hole #3 Sedgely Woods in Philly, blue tees 172' with a rhyno.

**My 'reviews' of courses lean more toward personal experiences than actual 'course reviews' of the type made for pdga.com. I would write them very differently if that was the purpose, but it isn't. I never originally intended to write anything about this, I began planning 3 years ago and this site began at christmas.

Played Bellevue in Wilmington, PA- caution

Bellevue has so much poison ivy, it's practically in the air.
5 foot tall "stalks" of ivy line the fairways. It's disgusting. Other than that a good course, I'd never play it again, it's no fun trying to avoid it on every shot, See pics because I can't describe it in words.

Sitting here on the first good weather day (in WIlmington, DE)

I am sitting in a Subaru dealer's lobby right now, though. Getting spark plugs and belts replaced. I knew this was coming, and I got an oil change earlier and decided to get it all done today. Luckily I expected it in the budget and the timing, though it's the 2nd nice day so far and I am missing out. I was going to get both State parks here in Wilmington, DE in tonight then head north, but it looks like I'll just get one then the other tomorrow morning.

Already played Roland Park in… Continue

Someone found my 1st disc lost on the trip already!

Thanks, T-Mac.

That is my favorite Sentinel, the first one I ever had.

Today I played the State park in Hanover, PA.

54 holes and a mini golf course too.

On hole #4 i ran into a guy name Clint, and joined him for the rest of the 50 holes and mini. For the most part, it is very tight and challenging. A bit overgrown, but they work hard to maintain the place. Some long and open holes on the red 18. Blue is all tight and technical. Lots of ivy, avoidable on 90% of… Continue
