Oahu Gold Course

Having no permanent course on the island gives us the advantage of experimenting with new course designs. At Sand Island Beach Park, we can get a permit to set up a temporary course and run monthly tournaments in a small area of the park. On Wednesdays, some of us use the park casually and sometimes experiment with redesigning the tournament course.

Best Dressed on the Course

Well, this must have been the third time this year I forgot my golf cloths at home and went straight to the course from work. Being a white collar worker in Hawaii, its a short sleeve collared button down, slacks and a pair of Rockports. I definitely have to untuck the shirt and have found loosening the belt a notch helps. I don't do any kneel downs or wiping off of dirt. Hey, but last Wednesday i won the round on the final putt. Hoo Hooo. :)

Why won't my putts stay in!!!

I'm 9 meters out and I choose a link and aim for it. Hah! I always choose the wrong link!

I'm a leftie so I usually choose a link about 3 inches left of center about middle height. My putting style is up down, that is to say I don't cross body putt. In general my missed putts…

Post Round Notes:

Every wednesday afternoon I play a friendly round with whoever shows up at Sand island. This game is big time mellow and is really just a midweek chance to relax.

So yesterday I tried changing up my midrange game. Instead of being tense, I said to myself and others "I'm going to throw like I'm outta my head". Instead of throwing short or wide I found myself making nice runs. Okay so I had two or three blow bys, but in general I preffered these runs to weak psuedo runs or wimpy…
