Well, I'm 2 for 2 at Ice Bowls his year. Last week I won the Ice Bowl at Ford Park in Redlands, CA in a sudden-death playoff. Today was the Ice Bowl at Sun Valley Golf Course in La Mesa, CA, and I won the Advanced division, one stroke ahead of three other players and another stroke ahead of two more. I'm not sure if anyone has blogged on this yet, but the world famous Shoe Tree at Morley Field in San Diego is no more.

High winds and heavy rain led to the tree's demise this past weekend. The weight of the hundreds of water-logged shoes hanging on its branches caused it to topple in the high winds. The shoe tree was a well-known San Diego landmark and definitely an icon in the disc golf world. This leaves us to wonder: "where will the next…

until yesterday. Team Rizbee rolled up to Redlands, CA for their inaugural Ice Bowl event, which is part of a three-tournament Ice Bowl Series (Redlands, Palm Desert, San Marcos). A field of about 20 played 18 holes on the 9-hole Ford Park DGC. Many players were probably scared off by the "storm of the century" that was supposed to dump several inches of rain on us yesterday, but didn't show in the morning. But I digress...

I got a call first thing this morning from the Parks Dept.: "Have you been out to mark the locations for the tees and baskets at Montiel Park? We thought you were going to use sprinkler flags and the contractor didn't see any out there." Well, I don't think I was dreaming when I adjusted the flag locations on New Year's Eve, so I guess someone had decided to "borrow" my flags.
