It's now just one month to go to the 31st British Open, and we have a few spaces left, as well as opportunties for sponsors. Would be great to have a few more players. The course is looking great, it just gets better every year! Details are at www.quarrypark.co.uk/british-open

After some frantic activity last week, the new Quarry Park website went live late on Friday. The site incorporates the web pages and registration for the 31st British Open to be held on 11-12th July, 2009. It's part of the European Tour and we expect at least 10 countries to be represented. Should be great, all PDGA members welcome to come and play one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments around.

Wolseley PLC have confirmed as sponsors of the 30th British Open, so we should have around €2000 or $3000 prize money. There's still time to enter, but with 59 people registered to play, you better hurry to grab a spot. Course preparations are coming on well, and we now have 4m x 2m artificial grass tees for all long tee positions. (that's about 13 feet by 6.5 feet)
Fundraiser discs have arrived and look sweeeet! Visit www.quarrypark.co.uk/open.htm for more details.

I'm excited to tell you all that my course, Quarry Park, is going to host the 30th British Open on May 31 to June 1. This is a PDGA Eurotour event with €2000 payout expected (that's nearly $3000)
The course is being upgraded with new signage and it will have astro-turf tee pads on all holes. We are also borrowing some land on the other side of the river, so that we can have some longer holes. Quarry Park is a purpose built disc golf course, set in 15 acres of beautiful countryside on… Continue

This morning I hosted a visit from 17 rural development delgates from Poland. They played 12 holes, asked loads of questions, took loads of photos and video and liked what they saw. Seems like they are interested in installing a course, because they asked if I would come to Poland when they opened it. Fingers crossed!

I thought I should maybe just give a little bit of my background in disc golf. I got hooked on throwing frisbees at the age of 12 and competed in the UK Overall Frisbee Championships in 1977. Next year I won the UK title and got a free trip to California to play in the World Frisbee Championships. That is when I played my first disc golf competition and first saw a basket, so I was "in at the deep end" in terms of competition, and also literally as my first throw went into a lake at La… Continue
