Disc Flight...does temperature matter?

I played discgolf this weekend and was puzzled at my forehand shot. It really wasn't there if you know what I mean? The release was not great and I was dipping my shoulder a bit for some sky rocket hook shots. Not really what I was looking for. My backhand was not that bad. But that isn't my query today. The shots that came out perfect( for me anyway) were mysterious. The disc was taking on very different fight patterns. I was turning over discs that I normally do not turn over. I left my discs… Continue

A New Found Love of the Game

I have recently discovered that I love playing disc golf. This may sound ridiculous to many so let me explain. I started playing in December 2006. I can still remember the feeling I had after playing a few holes. Oh boy was I hooked. Then playing became an obsession. At first it was okay, I was getting my game down, meeting new people, and feeling that "first round excitement" I got that first day I played in December. A change started taking place after that first year and I didn't even… Continue

Baggers Baggers Everywhere!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how people sign up to play a tournament. Many players sign up in the appropriate divisions based on their skill level. But there are those that continue to sign up in a division that they have long since surpassed. I guess it makes people feel good to win and dominate a division without being too competitive. The problem I have with the whole issue is that local TDs need to keep up with how people are scoring and "strongly encourage" these baggers to move up. Don't… Continue

No bad karma, please!!!

I just think some things need to be aired out. We really need to watch out during tournaments and make sure that our guests are not getting the raw end of the deal. It is crappy when the shelter gets booked and we have to move to a new location. I think it adds insult to injury when too many people are trying to help run the tournament. Even if it takes a little time, there is one TD and he/she should take care of everything. It is more orderly and looks/feels professsional. All I am saying is… Continue

Oh no, not again!!!

Sometimes it seems there are too many hands in the cookie jar. It is so hard to keep everything in order when so many people try to "help out". Usually I find that the motive is merely that the "helpers" think they can do a better job or that the job will not get done if they don't do their part. The kicker is the way they act. They act as if they are pissed at the world and are short and rude to everyone. Hey! Do us a favor. If you're not asked to help, don't help. Sit back and just relax. We… Continue
