Thanksgiving Stink Up!

I spent my Thanksgiving at work, but ran by Timmons Park and played the back nine afterward. I have to say that I stunk up the place. I took a double bogey on 11 with a rollaway that dropped off the basket - another double bogey on 12 with an approach in the creek - a birdie on 14 with a long putt - a bogey on 16 by leaving my approach wedged between two trees - and a double bogey on 18 with my teeshot short into the creek. Timmons with Bill

I called Bill last night so Bill and Carla met me for a round at Timmons this afternoon. It has been nearly 4 weeks since I played last. I have been riding 3 or 4 times a week and that has displaced my disc golf time, but I am going to make an effort to play at least once a week and hopefully twice. It was an odd round but I am happy with it (even though Bill really blew me away!) I was +2 on the front 9 with 3 penalty strokes on #2, 5, and 9. Holmes Retake

Holmes kicked my rear so badly on Monday that I had to return to see if I couldn't restore order on the course. I ended up at -2 for the round but it was an adventure getting there. I bogeyed one by missing a 15 foot putt. I would make better than 9 of 10 putts from that distance, but it hit the chains and the basket then fell out. I pulled even with a birdie on 2. Gower - No Holmes and Really Bad

It's been nearly 3 weeks since I played last so I dragged myself out after work for a round. I had to stop by Greenville Tech so I went on over to Gower Park. There must have been some kind of school sponsored event going on as a ton of little teenagers dressed in red were there and had the tennis courts and the 9th fairway covered up. Gower Alone

I went to Gower right after work. I only went around once for 9 holes. I birdied #1,2, and 8 but I bogeyed #4 and #5. That is my first time to birdie #1. I nearly birdied #3 but my birdie putt through some branches and around a tree hit on top of the basket. I should have parred #4 but the par putt was very tight. I nearly parred #5 but the 35 foot putt hit the front of the basket. The birdie putt on #8 went in from about 45 feet out. So the round was up and down for me. Continue

Greer with Bill & Carla after the Downpour

I called Bill and we decided to hit the Greer course at 5:30. Shortly after 5 a heavy downpour moved through the area and really soaked down the course. But we decided to go ahead and play a round. I was -1 on the front nine with a bogey on #1 and birdies on #4 and #8. Then came the back none. I threw 6 bogeys (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 18) to finish at +5. Holmes Alone

I headed to Holmes Park for a quick round. I was playing fairly well off the tee but not able to hit 20 to 30 foot putts. I missed birdie putts on #1, #2, #3, and #7. I birdied #5, #6, and #8 to finish at -3 for a 24.My putt on #5 was dead behind a tree and I had to massage it around the tree and into the chains. #6 was a short straight shot and #8 was a straight in shot from about 15 to 20 feet below the basket. That is the first time that I ever birdied #8. Continue

Timmons with Erica and Not with Nick

Nick challenged Erica to a round of disc golf at Timmons then he backed out at the last moment. I figured that Erica would also be a no-show so I was going to throw a round and head for home. Holmes Once Alone

I ran over to Holmes for a quick round tonight. I didn't play especially well as I ended up at +3 for 30. I threw two birdies on #3 and #6, but I took a double bogey on #4. My tee shot was a FAT hard side-arm throw about 30 feet off the tee box. (FAT = First Available Tree!) I thought that I had thrown a great recovery shot to save a bogey, but when I got to the basket I was over 40 feet above the basket. Timmons Alone

I went over to Timmons for a quick round today. I scored pretty poorly, but I didn't play as poorly as the 60 would indicate. Once the score went in the tank, it was time to try different discs and different throws in various places. Some worked well and others did not. I have new Star Roadrunner, Champion Valkyrie, and Elite Surge SS discs that I am trying to develop a feel for how they throw,. They got a work out once my score had tanked. Greer with Bill and Carla

I met Bill and Carla at Greer early this afternoon for a round. I just didn't have a thong for that course. I was up 3 on the front and up four more on the back to end up with a +7 for a 61. That is very disappointing. It's very seldom that I play in the heat of the day and out in the sun, but I have played there in the sunny part of the day when it was hotter and didn't play that poorly. What can you say? Timmons with James

I went to Timmons for a quick round tonight to prove to myself that the +7 I threw last week was a fluke. I threw a few discs off the first teepad when an out-of-towner named James asked if he could play a round with me. He also had an 11-week-old English bulldog to help us play. I took 2 water penalties for double bogeys on 5 and 18 but birdied 2, 6, 14, 15, and 17 to end up at -1. I was happy but also disappointed because I was -3 on the 18th teepad. Timmons with Erica and Not Nick

Nick challenged Erica to a disc golf dual with me at Timmons Park, but then Nick dropped out at the last minute due to losing a tooth. So it was just Erica and me at Timmons. I played terribly! In the first 10 holes I had 4 water penalties and ended up at +7. I only had 2 birdies and I had several bad holes. Nick, a buddy from work and I went to Holmes Park after work to play a couple of nine hole rounds. Nick has never played before so he wanted to give it a try. I called Bill and met him and Carla in Greer for a round tonight. While we were teeing off Dillon, one of the kids that hangs out at the park, came running over wanting to play with us. Dillon is a kid that doesn't throw well at all, but he talks incessantly and takes forever to throw. He also pesters us while we are trying to throw. Erica and I went back to Gower tonight and went around twice. I was even par both times with a birdie on 4 and a bogey on 5 then a birdie on 3 and a bogey on 4 again. Gower in the Rain with Erica

Erica and I met to play at Gower this evening. I threw for a while waiting for her and it started raining once she arrived. We waited a few minutes and the rain cleared up so we started off. Erica and I met at Greenville Middle to throw on the field, but they had the sprinklers on. So we went to Holmes Park to play a couple of rounds. I went to Holmes this evening for a quick round. Erica said that she was going to play but I rightfully doubted her.
