I hate Friday

So here it is. Thursday night, only one more day of work before a disc golf event. The alarm clock is set for 6. It doesn't matter how late I stay awake tonight, because I want to be sleepy early tomorrow. I probably won't do much at work, because my job pretty much consists of me avoiding the right people at the right time so that I can do the very least that is required of me. On the front lines morale is low. The day ahead seems like an uphill battle, a war much like Iraq, that can never be… Continue

New Year Open

This last Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Dexter, MI, the TADGA club held the New Year Open tournament. The event was a C tier for pros and a B for ams. I just wanted all of the disc golfers out there to know that the hard working folk from the TADGA are aces. I am from Lansing Michigan and had never played a TADGA event, but I promise that after seeing how this event was ran that I will make darn sure to be at their clubs next event. In Michigan that day we had quite a bit of freezing rain, and it… Continue

The New Year

Here in MIchigan the snow is falling once again, crushing the recent hopes that spring was coming sooner than usual. I have been blessed with being able to play several rather warm rounds this week because of the odd weather we have been having. But the season is already underway! There are a couple of options this week as far as tournament play goes, and I hope that if you are in the area of either you get out there and play. If you are near Lansing the CCR is putting on the Ice Berg Open on… Continue

Welcome to the Woods, my friends.

Grand Woods Park is one of those places that you love to hate. I am not just speaking of the course itself, but the atmosphere. On any given day you can see everything that is halting the growth of our great sport. There are people smoking pot right in the runner pathways, drunks put their bottles everywhere except the trash cans. The casual players play in groups far too large for a smooth transition through a round. Over the summer lone golfers were mugged right in the open. Grand Woods Park… Continue

Winter is here and the course is empty. The groups of ten hapless disc golf "enthusiasts" that normally tee off right before you get your bag out of the car are hibernating for the next few months. The air is cold and you know that the six pack of Bells winter ale will be a fine slushy, just like the ones 7-eleven used to sell. You probably look silly with so many layers on, some may think that you are doing your very best impersonation of a Jet-Puffed Marshmellow. You are only wearing one… Continue
