A New Year, Bigger goals, and sweeter custom discs! (Don't forget the bag tags!)

Well, we have successfully started our second year as a disc golf club, and we are looking at some exciting times. Starting June 1st, you will be able to log on to www.refresheverything.com and vote for Knollwood to receive a $5000 grant to help achieve a full 18 concrete teepads, new picnic tables, and a nice big permanent bulletin board for the course. Every vote will count, and this is yet another way that you, the regular disc golfer can take… Continue

League seasons are over, but wait, Indoor DG?

So I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that participated in any way this year, I hope you all had as good a time as we did, and we look forward to seeing you for our future endeavors. Speaking of future endeavors, I would like to let everyone know that we are in the process of obtaining the facilities to host a weekly indoor disc golf event throughout the winter. This event will be our way of keeping disc gold alive through the winter for those souls not hearty enough to face… Continue

Hell yes everybody, we finally put a concrete tee in at Knollwood, and I'm heading down there right now (8am) to be the first to shoot from it!

K'wood Chiefs

So I've been putting together a series of events, gathering information, and supplies, and getting a plan together to revitalize Knollwood. So far, it's going well, Sunday is the first clean up day, and it looks as though we'll get at least 20-30 people, which is, as far as I can tell, the minimum I need to get the course clean. Also, I'm planning a doubles tournament for mid-August, probably the 15th, which is subject to change, however, I'm pretty sure that one is going to work. I've obtained… Continue

Aces Part 2

So recently, I've been playing terribly, yet out of all of the horribleness I've been committing, I've actually made three aces. First, hole 8 at knollwood with the San Marino Roc, next, hole 5 at knollwood with the Classic Roc, and finally hole 15 at a course I had never visited before called Rolling Hills County and Water Park in Ypsilanti, MI. I will add to this blog at another time, I'm wasting sunshine!

OK, so here's the explanation of my ace at Rolling Hills. To those that don't know… Continue

My aces

If you don't know me, I'm a decent golfer, but I am lacking two key elements, distance, and consistency. Of course one should never discount my strong points including a strong putting game, technical skill, and luck! The last of my strengths have gotten me an ace at Oshtemo on hole six thanks to a luck bounce directly into the basket, a perfect shot directly into hole four at one of the most dangerous courses I've played, Valley Farm Park in Dewitt, MI. And now, four aces on two holes at… Continue

Summing it all up...

So, because this is my first post on this beautiful site, I believe it would be appropriate to introduce myself. I live in Kalamazoo, MI. which is home to several of the state's best courses, the least of which is what I like to call my "Home Course". Knollwood Park is dirty, there are homeless people that collect cans, one of the hole hazards includes drunken frat kids breaking beer bottles on the basket, and many of our players effectively shun the course because of it's lower difficulty… Continue
