Life's hyzers.....

I have not been playing any kind of golf, either ball or disc for several weeks now. I was feeling really good about both when I screwed up my back and shoulders, resulting in major gridlock to my upper body. A trip to the urgent care left me with two cortisone shots in either shoulder and an allergic reaction to the betadyne . Wanting to take off the training wheels, but I know I will fall...

So, after my breakthrough at the end of last week, when finally I saw a little tempo, some rhythm, and direction, I played a few times. Not surpisingly, I did not have the same success I did when I was out there alone, feeling the love from the air and sky. I find it helpful to watch the better players and I like to go out and note how they make it look so easy, but at the same time I feel frustrated at not being able to play at a higher level myself. This baby is learning to walk!

So yesterday, I snuck out before I had to teach voice lessons to figure out this game. Headed out to Montiel around noon, and when I got there, there was one other person on the course. Started throwing discs and low and behold, they actually went somewhere. What?!? No, I didn't eat Wheaties, or have hypnosis. Somehow, all the stuff I have been worrying about, completely obsessing (as in, "how can you ever play this if you can't throw") over just melted away.

Just have to remember small steps

Today was a beautiful day, weather-wise. With all the rain we have had lately, it was nice to wake up to sunshine. Allen and I went to Emerald Isle because the first EI Bagtag Challenge was taking place. Since I am brand new to the game, I did not expect in any way to compete or challenge. Maybe someday. Hopefully someday sooner than when I think it really will happen.
