Damaging the Throwing Hand!

Ouch! I learned early on the basic rule that you never reach into deep grass or a thicket with your throwing hand. Tonight, Sheila learned that about . . . dish water! (See pic at end of blog post.)

So, here I am, sitting at our dining room table watching discgolfersR.us grow and the live chat actually work, and I hear from the kitchen: "Aargh!"

I could tell by the sound of Sheila's voice that it was bad, so I ran up to her prepared to do the tourniquet thing but didn't,… Continue

Celebrating Thirty Years Tonight!

On December 31, 1977, I was halfway through my first year in law school at the University of Michigan, and single again after an early first marriage that hadn't worked out. A friend, who had taken a couple of anthropology classes from me at Oakland University, invited me to his house for a small New Year's Eve party.

I got there early and we were chatting when he said, "Uh-oh, Terry, I just realized that everyone who is coming tonight is a couple. There won't be any single women." I… Continue

New Course In My Top Ten: Deis Hill Park in Dover, Ohio

Ben and I just finished our first round on this new course. He beat me by 8 strokes, with a 65 to my 73 . . . and we played the Am pads! This course goes into my Top Ten - and it doesn't even have concrete tees yet.

Deis is a mix of open, semi-open, and woods, with tremendous elevation and very long holes. There are three tees for each hole, Rec, Am, and Pro, with Am and Pro combined on 2-3 holes. All of this is… Continue

Playing Dover, Ohio Today

Ben and I are heading out shortly for Dover, Ohio where, it says in the guide, there is a course that averages 500' per hole. Val Jenkins says it is beautiful, too. We'll let you know later. (We should arrive there about 11 am.)

Bandemer Park (Ann Arbor) the Day After Christmas

Sheila and I went camera shopping for her - she's going to carry her own digital camera on our China trip in late February (28th) through March (24th) - at Radio Shack. Got her a Olympus FE-280, nice little thing. She's learning how to use it as I write this blog entry.

Then we met Ben at 3:30 pm at Bandemer Park for some discing before he went to work.

We played the first round (9 holes) from the Reds (short tees) and the second round from the Blues (long tees). I beat Ben,… Continue

The Day After Christmas

It's the day after Christmas, and I just wanted to share that I am thrilled by all of the uses that disc golfers are making of this website. I started to end that sentence with "especially this blog, I love the posts" but although I do love this blog and posts on it, there are so many good things about what people are doing in here that I cannot realistically add "especially" to any one.

Here's a little background on Disc Golfers R Us

Way back before I joined the PDGA… Continue
