Bogeyman's Blog (12)

Ya know the best thing about Disc Golf is the friends you find out on the course! The Z-Brothers, ie: Keith & Drew, found me as a fledgling DG'er and took me under their wings, even though I can't get a lot of tech. help as they both throw wicked sidearms and I throw a wussy rhbh, they have helped me ENJOY the game a lot more than if I played by myself! They always make me "step up" my game, weither it's… Continue

I just gota know how to throw??

I seem to get pretty good distance on hyzer type shot's when needed but for the life of me I can't get an anhyzer throw to do anything but go "up, die off and fall to earth, well short of where I wanted it to go! I've seen many other RHBH players get a sweet anhyzer to not only go to the say the entry point in a area of trees but they can make it gently float a long ways into the sweet spot. Mine, yea sometimes I get it to go in the direction I want but it still heads up and dies back actually… Continue

I love owning a course!!

No, my game was not steller, infact it was average at best, but there's something special about showing up at open park DG course on a chilly but very sunny day and being the ONLY one in the whole park!! Widefield Community Park DG course is in a old county park but it's a blue level course with a OB creek flowing thru 90% of the course. It has big old oak and cottonwood trees so lot's of yellowed and brown leaves are on areas of the course.

Luckly it's never as crowded as the DG… Continue

Try'in to bring in a new generation of DG'ers!

I've been bringing my two 13 year old nephew's along when playing a round of DG lately, it's kinda fun to watch their love of the game grow. They are twins and even though the look, act, ect. alike, it seems that Tom is finding much easier to play than John.

One of the problems is that John is a "Lefty" so with me being a RHBH thrower I've got to remember to show him everything backwards so were both working on that angle. Tom seems to be able to get the idea of "snap" much better… Continue

Huk'in in the Steel City

This weekend we drove down to Pueblo, CO. to play on the "City Park Course", it seems we head down that way every Oct. It was sunny but with a chilly breeze, (weak cold front) but it's such a enjoyable course to play. It's not really a "BIG ARM" course more of a tech. course and that's the kind I like! As an OLD thrower, with heavy arthritis, those courses with 500+ holes are a total waste of time for me. I like courses with tree's, bends, creeks, etc. it makes the game are real challenge. The… Continue

A review of a couple of Colorado Courses

>1. Snow Mnt. DG at Snow Mountain YMCA Camp: The

>course has a lot of short holes to start and it

>really a PIA to locate some holes. To get to the

>#1 Tee (all dirt), park at Commons (dining hall),

>park at the bottom of the hill, in the spots

>closes to the road. You will see the #1 tee "(it's

>not marked at all). There are "tiny stake signs"

>to take you to #2 tee, that's only marked by a log

>face with a "tiny" black 2.… Continue

Step'in on up to 10 speed!

Decided I'm getting a strong enough throw to go up to some "10 speed", bigger rimmed discs. Traded the Swidewinders for Orc's, which I really like as the sidwinders were going "hard right" when I tryed to throw hard from the tee. I'm trying for a trade on Discaroo: http://www.discaroo.com a disc "trading" site to get a Starfire to step up to from the 9 speed Viking and a Monster to step up to from the 9 Speed Pro Line Firebird too.

I figure I'll be throwing 10 speed drivers for a… Continue

Just Throw'in

It's been a bit since I've added to my blog, well been doing lot's of throw'in, mostly at Widefield Community Park DG Course, LOL, the score never seems to improve much, a stroke or two. Picked up a couple more Birdies but the elusive ACE doesn't seem to be in my bag! ;)

Been doing a monthly Clean Up of the DG area of the park, it's amazing how lazy players can be, sometimes there's a trash can right on the tee but they still leave their trash all over, grrrrrrrrrr! :( It's sure nice… Continue

Expo Park in the MUDD!! :O, 02/16/08

Well we finally got to get a chance to play on a course up towards Denver, it's the Expo Park DG course located in Aurora, CO. A really nice course in a very pretty park setting but it's got a lot shorter holes and very few trees, compared to our home course, (Widefield Park DG). How else would I get a score in the, 60's (64, the best I've ever done at a DG course) and a sweet birdie on Hole #10, YEA!!! :)

It's got two deep and quite large ponds… Continue

Waiting for the SUN!!

The Doors (ya I'm OLD), had a great song called waiting for the SUN, but I've notice that it applies to "non-league/club" disc golf'ers too. Today, while running our club's Sunday FUN League, I noticed a LOT of "independent" DG'ers. out of the course for the first time, yep we hit around 50 today but there were a lot of high clouds, that kept out the sun till the back 9.

From Nov-now, we of the Pikes Peak Flying Disc Club, Sunday FUN League, owned our local course in Widefield Park,…

The defination of NOVICE is: Being Inconsistant, Arrrrrrugh!!

LOL, ya know it's amazing to me how different a game of DG can be from week to week! My avg. at Widefield Park is 77.1 over many games, but the week before I shot an "80", then last Sunday I shot at "74". The days were identical, weather wise but Sunday last week, I couldn't BUY a basket! ;)

It's not like I don't play, I usually play "every other day" at least 1 round, sometimes 2, I think hard about throwing level and keeping the nose of the disc down just a little, Due to having…

Howdy from B.J. (Bogeyman) Ondo

Howdy all, I'm Bogeyman (B.J. Ondo) out of Colorado Springs, CO. My wife Jo and I are members of the Pikes Peak Flying Disc Club: http://www.ppfdc.com and we Host the Sunday FUN/Free League. Were totally NOVICE level players, both 50+ and only started throwing plastic in Sept. 07. I have Reiter's Syndrome, (chronic arthritis) so I will never be a "distance chucker", but the game is just plain FUN!

I was taking a long walk out of the tinly hamlet of…
