The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

My wife and daughter were in Panama City on vacation at her parent's condo for a week. I got to stay home due to work and lack of free vacation days. While I was home, I decided to surprise my wife with the arbor she had been wanting on the back deck of the house. The deck of my house is about 12 feet off of the ground and I added extentions to the posts to take them up so that the top of the arbor is about 25 feet off of the ground.

While putting up the crossing beams of the arbor, I was stepped on a beam that I *thought* I had already attached with hurricane ties. Turns out I missed that one and it flattened and I went falling. Unfortunately, I was on the part of the arbor that was sticking out over the deck abit so I'm falling fast and I'm going to hit hard. Just by instinct, I reached out and grabbed the rail of my deck.

Because of disc golf, I actually had enought strength in my grip to slow myself down and prevent hard landing. My shoulder serperated a bit from the shock, but thank goodness I have been losing weight! I landed on my butt/back and had the breath knocked out of me. I took count of my body parts once I could breath again and I felt very lucky I only hurt my shoulder, it could have been a lot worse!

Thank you Disc Golf!

P.S. I also played a few rounds left handed because my shoulder hurt. I wasn't as bad as I thought I would be!

That is a great story, I feel that DG has helped my life also, it has me much more active than I was and I have managed to lose 17lb or so while doing something I love. Glad to hear everything worked out for the better for you.

DG saved my life because it gave me something I could excel at, as well as a sense of community.

Yep, it is worth a try and it definately helps knowing what you can do with your off hand. On some holes I would normaly sidearm, I actually developed better accuracy throwing left handed instead.

Rock on, Disc Golf does it again.

I had to swich to my left a while back (wrist injury) and it definatly threw off my game, but after I got it down it realy helps to know how to throw with both hands.
