A friend from the U.K. (I met him on a ship in Antarctica!) gave me a shout that he was coming to Seattle for a conference this week and wanted to give disc golf a try. I picked him up at his downtown hotel and in 15 minutes we were at Lakewood on the first tee. I brought an assortment of discs in one of my extra bags for him to test drive: understable drivers, mid-ranges and a couple of different putters and we headed out hoping to beat the gathering grey rain clouds. I was pleased to get a three on hole 12 (Geezer) which is always sure to impress a newbie. We ended up playing 14 holes due to time constraints and threatening weather. It turned out to be a lot of fun and he says he's gong to be checking the pdga website for a course near where he lives. Stopped at the Pecos pit BBQ on the way back to town for a little bit of authentic American cuisine, also a hit.
