The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
If you've seen the news posting on this site about construction of a new course in San Marcos, that's the one I'm working on. We have about 8 acres of open space on a hillside that is a powerline easement. A few trees, but not many. Last week my son and I went out to stake the tee and basket locations and measure the hole lengths. Today we'll go back out to play the holes with some friends and tweak the locations a bit. Construction will start Jan. 2nd, so we're pretty excited.
This course is not intended to be a championship-level course. We don't have the greatest piece of land to work with, but in Southern California, having ANY land to work with is a coup. We have designed a 9-hole course that is aimed at new players, especially kids. This is the first no-fee disc golf course in North San Diego County, and will be the only no-fee course in the County when it opens. Mind boggling, huh?
Best thing is - it's just a few minutes drive from both work and home for me!!!
