Yesterday I got to play a private course in Southern Humboldt that blew my mind, Birds of Paradise. This course was amazing, lefts, rights, ups, downs, tightly wooded, open fields (but never flat open fields), HUGE elevation change, lots of alternates and tons of room for expansion. The guy who runs the course (on his parents land) is very cool and a fun guy to play with. We played a round on the new layout (that I was only the second or third person to play), then we played some old holes, some new ones that were still in the process of being designed, played some alternate tees and even designed another new hole shooting off a cliff. I'm in the process of uploading pictures and videos while I write this, so they'll be up soon.
Many thanks go out to Caleb for his great tour of his fantastic course. My new #2!
