2/24/08 women's winter bagtag round

4 ladies met for a tag round at tolland yesterday (tolland, CT). GREAT weather. however, there was lots of snow on the ground. we survived one round with only one lost disc. as usual, the company on the course was awesome. lots of laughs and even a couple of pre-season, deep-snow rules were invented. erica and kristi brought CTPs. erica, kristi, and charis prepared ample food for all. we unanimously decided against a 2nd round. it was replaced by girl talk and beers ;)

i will publicly admit that i don't 100% enjoy this course. it's a new course that's densely wooded with young trees. the fairways are often unkind, leaving me with poke-n-hope situations on roughly 15 of the 18 holes. conclusion... this is a frustrating but educational scenario. playing tolland helps me truly value a well-timed release. i spend the day thinking about the safe shots and gaps. and experimenting with awkward trick shots. ok, maybe a flick isn't a trick shot unless you're me.

and you earn that "nice shot" from your peers when you own the hole by puring the fairway on your second shot (having left the drive 30 ft from the tee), a long and narrow anny... so pure is blows 50 feet past the basket without hitting even a twig. who knew you'd actually hit the gap. with authority.
