Right now I've got a tentative tournament schedule laid out for the next two months. It is completely loaded, thus far. The only question really concerns money. I've got enough, but I'm also going to have to pay for my passport to get ready for my summer trip to Spain this year. I am already pre-registered for BG Ams though, so thats money already spent, no need to budget for it in my current account.
March Madness - C Tier - Columbus, Ohio
I'm looking at playing advanced at this one. Not because of the competition, but because of the cost. I'm confident that playing the layouts planned (one long/one short) on the Hambrick Memorial Course I can do well (tied Bennett in January there). However the cost differential is $20.00 which is too wide, in my opinion, for a C-Tier. Like I said, I have a bank account to think of.
Spring Thaw - C Tier - Bowling Green, Ohio
This is the final event in the Throw in the Snow Series. I'm playing Open and Trophy Only, as I've said I am until the TITS Series ends. If Ziggy isn't there I can pull off fourth in the Open Division series. He'll probably be there, so I'm relegated to fifth (I doubt Schack comes down to BG). Either way, only the top three cash, but I'm satisfied with the way my winter in Open has gone after finishing dead last in my last amateur tournament of 2007.
Bowling Green Amateur Championships - A Tier - Bowling Green, Kentucky
From Bowling Green, Ohio to Bowling Green, Kentucky. I've held off of making any predictions about Bowling Green Ams. I'm very confident, but a lot of guys have been overconfident going into recent years and bombed out. It takes 985 golf to win it, usually. I've done that before. It takes 975 rated golf to get into the top 10. Again something I've done. On the other hand I've lately been at 955 every tournament, which will only get me top 50. It'll be fun either way.
No Foolin' - C Tier - Ann Arbor, Michigan or Riverside Drive - B Tier - Columbus, Ohio
This is the tough decision. In the end it is going to come down to prices. I'm going to wind up at the less expensive event. No Foolin' may be the answer because Paul Jay tends to have relatively high prices. I'm fine with that, makes the payouts better. But in the middle of this run of events I can't afford it. But at the same time, I'd love to hit four events this year in the Columbus Flyers Point Series.
Toledo Area Monthly - Unsanctioned - Temperance, Michigan
This is going to be an event that I'll be running. I will participate in the event if the attendance is under 50 disc golfers. Locally we've had a lot of demand for low cost unsanctioneds to have some fun at. I'm going to try to fill that void one weekend per month when there's nothing else within short driving distance. I think it'll be a lot of fun. Different atmosphere from the usual events.
Disc 'n Dat Bluegrass Open - A Tier - Burlington, Kentucky
This is the event that is the biggest question mark and the one that I'm the most pumped about maybe hitting. I've heard nothing but amazing things about Idlewild and Banklick. But I'm not sure if anybody local is going, I'd love to split hotel costs or something, plus it starts to get dangerously close to exam week at this point which is nerve-wracking. But there's only one event really held at Idlewild that I know of, and this is it.
5th Annual Spring Hyzer - C Tier - Toledo, Ohio
This is the first event in the local summer point series, the Michigan Ohio Border Tour (MOB Tour). I'll be paying full entry to play Open and accepting merch in lieu of cash if I finish high enough. That'll be a first for me, up until this point it'll be all trophy only. I'm hoping that, after this long stretch of events, I'll be hitting a 980 regularly. I played 980 golf for two months over five tournaments before. I know that that isn't just a level I can reach, but it is a level I should already be at.
Anyway, yep, plans. Nifty, eh? Guess so. This was kind of mostly for my own analysis, putting it in words to make sure it sounds feasible. I think that it sounds completely feasible to me. It's going to be a fun month and a half of disc golf.
