This picture was taken the first time I went and played the Cross Canyon Challenge in Brooksville, FL. This event was played on the "currently defunct" Gran Canyon course, the BEST that I have ever played. The course is built into an old quarry, old enough that plenty of vegetation has grown in. As a result of being in a quarry, there are 100' cliff drops, crazy dog-legs and holes that you couldn't dream up even if you had a ton of dirt and eartthmoving capabilities.
The picture is of me driving #27 during the final round. It's 738'? down to the bottom of the quarry and then the green is maybe 25-30' feet up on a shallow plateau. All along the right is qute a steep hillside covered in huge sawgrass plants. If your disc landed there, even with rapelling equipment you'd probably never find it. My drive was near-perfect as it went all the way down then turned and when I finally found my disc it was in the wall that makes up the front of the green. Still took a four though as that was a tough lie to approach from.
There is currently a petition on ipetitions.com to get the local park district to buy the course for DG as well as mountain biking. Go to pdga.com and scroll down through the main page, the info should still be there.
