Here in Holland there is a lot of wind.Lately it has been storming. That is never a big deal...I am kinda used to it.
Sometimes we go to our course(Roel Langerak,Rotterdam) to have some FUN when the wind is blowing hard.Extreme distance is always fun or when you putt and you miss and your disc lands 60 feet further. This course is kinda easy for a weathered player but when it blows,+8 is not uncommon.

In Holland we don't have that many basket courses but we always play on the first saturday of the month somewere in Holland, a 3x12 holes tournament.
We started with this around 1986 but then we played 4x9.+ the best 5 played another finall for 5 holes
Nowadays we have more players(about 50) and we still play every year for a period of 9 months.

I have played in all kinds of weather.Rain, sun, snowstorms where you couldn't see you disc or extreme cold weather were your hands would freeze off.
But I never played in 60mph wind.....
March 1 we did!

We were supossed to play on the beach at Almere but when we arrived we decided to go to another place.
The wind was on the beach even harder but that was not the worst part.
The sand was!
Sandstorms are by far the worst I had ever expierenced.
Just standing on the beach like course was incredible!!!!
You just couldn't open your eyes....

So we went to a basket course near Utrecht in a place called Nieuwegein.
They have a permanent course there with 9 baskets.
It is a real beginners course where I have the course record of -8.
You can play the whole course with a putter and maybe on a few holes a roc.
But with this wind it was still a challenge.
For the many amateurs we have, this was alot of fun cuz' now they could finally make some birdies.
Some beginners had 7 birdies but they had also 4's,5's and even more.

Most groups had only 3 players but I volunteerd to take a new player who had only played 3 rounds in her life.
Needless to say that our 2 rounds took forever and my score wasn't that good either(26,25).
But surprisely enough, I still made it in the 2nd. group?
I was tied for 5th with 3 other players.
But this time I played with 2 other guys and I knew I had a chance to score good now.
Well, that was the plan anyway.
My 3rd round was still average(25) but then I started to play like there was no wind and my putter was on fire that last round.
I shot a 21 and ended up 4th.

And you know what...I am happy with that.
I used to be first or second for the longest time but then I got sick and my game went down the drain(same as my rating-from 975 to 900).
But now I am better again and it shows.
I still need to work a little bit more but pretty soon we have the Dutch Open and I have a fair chance to make it in the top 4(again).

My only hope is that there will be less wind....
