So I got my first first place as far as disc golf goes a couple weekends ago. It's not much to brag about, the women's division consisted of me and Heidi, and I got to buy $20 worth of mulligans. That's right, I won the women's division for the 2nd Annual Adair Mulligan Madness!
Here's a recap.... the first round Heidi and I ended all tied up at 17 over par. I had 2 birdies that round, one legitimate and the other I bought the re-putt. (If you're wondering it was on holes 14 and 9)
The second round we stayed pretty close, somewhere in the woods I gained a few strokes on Heidi. At the end of the round I was ahead by a mere 3 strokes for a score of 22 over par and Heidi with a +25.
More exciting for me was being able to play with someone I can compete with. Last year's Mulligan Madness I played with Toni Hoyman (again, only 2 women). She is a great disc golfer and a lot of fun to play with, but WAY out of my reach even with unlimited mulligans! I think I still spent plenty of money on mulligans last year, the weather was terrible so even if our division wasn't competitive I still managed to get throws I did not want to play from.
The other exciting thing about this tournament was that it gave me a new love for Adair. Of the 2 courses in Corvallis, I usually prefer playing Willamette, mostly because I generally get better scores there. I've forced myself to try playing Adair more, because it's a tricky course and all of the fun disc golf events seem to be there (Sunday doubles, Handicap).
In this tournament though, I got to write 3 birdies on my scorecard and in the second round I had a close putt on 2 other potential birdies. There's only one hole at Willamette that I have birdied. There's probably some that fall in that 'potential' range, but no others yet.
So that concludes my exciting first place news! I'm excited about the summer season of tournaments coming up, and maybe some more birdies:D
