I went down on Friday to Huntsville, AL to locate and play a round or two at the Brahan Spring course getting ready for the Rocket City Amateur Open (3rd place in Novice! Yay me!). I found it eventually and started playing the course, which I love by the way! I caught up with a trio on #9, they had just thrown and asked if I wanted to play though or play with. I told them I didn't want to embarrass myself and to go ahead. They said in essence "Come on, how bad can you be?" so I joined them. I couldn’t find the pin so one of the guys, Darren, points it out to me. He also says that this is an Ace hole. The hole is only about 190 but the pin has tree guards so I didn't think it would be an Ace for me. Well, it was. My Orion LS flew flat and then dove into the chains! Lee and Jay (the other two guys) and myself yelled and high-fived and when I turned to Darren his jaw was wide open and he had a stunned look on his face. He explained that he had been playing the course since '96 and had yet to Ace this particular hole. It was a particular nasty monkey on his back and his friends said that for me to come up on my first throw on the hole ever and Ace it with a guy that had been trying for 12 years was perfect!
Sorry Darren, maybe next round!
