The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Dear Blog!
I did it today! I threw my new champion Destroyer for the first time. To be honest, I can see not much difference between the champion Wraith and the Destroyer at this early stage of testing. But I have to admit that I'm not able to throw the discs at full speed yet. Every throw hurts a bit due to my injured rib, but I'm very happy that I'm able to throw at all. We played a nice practice round using two mobile baskets. And it was very funny although the weather was still cold and windy, about 5 degrees. I hope the weather will improve a bit during the next couple of days, because our tour is about to start on Saturday. I'm very curious if and how the new discs will influence my game.

Yesterday I managed to throw the Destroyer farther than the Wraith for the first time. I'm of the opinion that wind matters actually. If there is a slight head wind or side wind the the Destroyer doesn't fade that much, but stays gliding. I think a long friendship with this disc is about to begin.

Got a star destroyer a while back and compared the speed with my wraith. It seems like the wraith took off a lot faster, but I can get a little more distance with the destroyer and it will handle the wind better. So,now it's one of my go to discs.

The way I use to throw my Wraith at long throws (~120 meters): I try to aim directly at the target. The Wraith goes straight for the first 50 - 60 meters, then turns to the right a bit, and finally fades back to the left. If the throw is performed perfectly, the disc lands very close to the target. Yesterday it was windy and we played on a hilly terrain. I had no chance to compare the Wraith and the Destroyer on a flat terrain under calm conditions yet.
